Does anyone have to read any books during the summer, for the next school year? If so, what are they?

Anyone reading any books for fun this summer? If so, what are you reading?

________________________________________________________________________________

I have to read a book titled Metamorphosis by Frank K. (I forgot his last name). Somehow that's the only book I'm obligated to read this summer. Last summer I had three.

I'm also waiting for a few books to come out on paperback to read them: Snakehead and Nightrise both by Anthony Horowitz. Or maybe they already have and I just haven't noticed...

Custom

Uh, I bought this book on zombie survival. I haven't started it yet though.

Good job! I, Viewtifulboy, declare you the CHAMPION!

I'm the official winner of the Viewtiful Victory roleplay championship!

I have to read Lord of the Flies and another book I should know about, but I didn't pay attention. =P
I hate the schools making us read over summer. I've actually grown to dislike reading because of this Summer Reading. D=

I've actually enjoyed quite a few of the books I've had to read for Summer.

I haven't read much of anything lately though.  :-\

Smashin

I was actually supposed to be reading four, The Odyssey being the only one I remember. However, the Lit teacher from last year quit, and there was no reading list sent out to my knowledge.

Since I'm going into AP Literature, I have to read 5 books.  Four are from the AP reading list (I already read an odd play entitled "Seascape", I am currently reading "Thirteen Moons", and then I'll read "Ulysses" and "Catch 22"), and then one "challenging" or "classic" book from the regular reading list.

It was hard finding good books on those lists...most of them seem very depressing and/or boring.

I'm re-reading Eragon and Eldest, since the third Book comes out in August. I finished an Ironman book the day I got it (around 300 pages, btw >_> ), so I'm looking for something extremely long and actually interesting, which is close to impossible.

I was going to be reading that during the previous school year, but some sheltering bastard parents complained about how their children shouldn't read that.

I'm not required to read anything, but I get to go to a pizza party if I do >_>.

I remember LotF.  I didn't pay attention for half of it, just like the Tragedy of Julius Caesar.

READ IT.
How long, what genre, and a basic summary plz D:
about 700 pages

Science Fiction

It's 2350 or something around there, I forget.  Humanity has spread across the galaxy via wormhole technology, and conveniently it has also achieved effective immortality.  However, this Intersolar Commonwealth is threatened by a strange occurance of a distant star--it disappeared suddenly and without any supernova or collapse, suggesting something strange at work.  After much deliberation, the Intersolar Commonwealth sends a faster-than-light ship to investigate, and...well...there you have the title.

It is one of the most engrossing and involved settings I've ever seen.  Hamilton tells of at least 30 worlds in very high detail to the point that you want to visit some of them (and stay far away from others), and the many subplots amazingly come together.

However, be prepared to read the 800 page sequel, Judas Unchained, to find out what happens.  Pandora's Star is only half the story.

That sounds extremely interesting, and I must have it ASAP >_>

However, I can lock in that "nerd" status from reading it. The book doesn't even have to have the title on it and people will think I'm reading the dictionary :P
