A friend in need.

As of tonight a friend who I held quite dear has suddenly began acting very strange.

He has been messaging me saying things such as how much he hates the world, and how weak human beings are, and how he has never truly liked or loved anyone but hates them all.

He is being a completely diffrent person and it seems to have come out of no where.

Usually he is a care free happy individual but as of now he just seems like he has been shrouded in blackness. I don't know how to get to him, to make him open his eyes to the friends he has.

I truly don't know what to do.

What would everyone here do in a situation like this?

It also will probably help to go to him in person and comfort him instead of talking on the computer.

One of my friends acts like this. Every so often, he makes a scene about how he hates the world, and says stuff about how he doesn't find things fun or make him happy anymore. It's really annoying.

Just tell him to cheer up, or hang out with him. If I was depressed, I'd feel better being with friends that care than being alone.

Make him feel like he's needed, hang out, and keep in touch.

If it persists (as in weeks) , tell a parent or guardian.

I'de say to try and spend more time with them, tell them how that's not true. And i guess overall, making a point to show them that you really care about them. If they still continue to feel the same way, tell their parents/guardians, or someone like a guidance councilor or psychiatrist. Just someone who could have better advice on how to help. I hope that your friend feels better soon.

If no, get him one.

Tell him to watch a slice-of-life comedy anime.  That always cheers me up when I'm sad.

Just hold it for now and observe. Everyone gets emo at some point, but if it's not a big deal it'll pass. If it lasts a few days then you should share it with a parent and such.
And check your friends arms...just in case (I'm serious about that)
