f*** Madagascar.

They closed down their Ports before my starting country even spotted the disease.

They usually shut down their ports early for me, but not that early!
Same for Japan, they shut their borders to quick for me to get in. :(

Pandemic is alright, but as a student of microbiology, I can say that it's not remotely close to accurate. Not to mention that "Visibility" is ridiculously b0rked. Which defeats the entire point, because if one were to create a species-wiping virus, it would start out as an extremely durable pathogen with very minor symptoms, and then once spread to all 4 corners of the earth, suddenly kicks it up into high gear with necrosis, liver failure, kidney failure, hemorraging, and other nasty symptoms.

The countries in PanII are so ridiculously paranoid about any germ I make (oh my god it's a common cold with sneezing and fever as symptoms let's close our borders) that it defeats the purpose of trying to win at all.

Of course it's not accurate, the governments of the world would NEVER react that quickly.

Especially before the country that the virus started in actually noticed it.

Not necessarily. If it started off in a third-world country, another country might notice it first if they have pathologists on the ground in those countries and they realize it's a new type of germ.

Maybe they would if it started off like Ebola, but if symptoms started off as innocently as I described in my edited post, there's no way that they'd be extraordinarily worried. And from an evolutionary standpoint, Ebola is a terrible virus; it kills people too quickly to effectively spread beyond Africa. Speaking of evolutionary standpoints, PanII fails those criteria, too--pathogens aren't sentient and don't want to wipe out their entire host reservoir, because if the host dies out, so too will the pathogen unless it quickly adapts to a new host. The ideal pathogen wants to simply multiply as much as possible--the best way to do this is to have only minor symptoms (or severe symptoms that take several years to appear, a la HIV) so that the host will continue their normal actions and infect other organisms. Really, the common cold viruses are about as close as one gets to an ideal germ.

Tupin

Yeah, the germs don't even act realistically.

Madagascar and Japan are too paranoid, they closed their borders before my disease even spread from its nation of origin.  :|

Oh, and my diseases tend to start in one place, not kill anyone, spread to another country, and THEN kill someone there before it kills someone in the country of origin.

I know! I gave mine no symptoms and the countries were still shutting down their borders!
