Or at least NSCX can't refer to it like that anymore. There's this remote called the "Weemote" that's pronounced the same and those guys are forcing NCSX to stop using the name "Wiimote" Here's the link: http://gonintendo.com/?p=49946

I think this is pretty stupid. They want them to stop using it because "The letter stated that we were to stop using the term, ?Wiimote? in our product descriptions and NCS Game Notes? because our actions could possibly cause confusion in the marketplace."

QuoteWe?re thinking of coining a new word - ?Wii-rote? or maybe just ?Wote.? As in, ?Wave your Wote in the air. Wave it like ya just don?t care.?
What the intercourse . :|

What in the f***ing s***land of a**!!!???

I'm still going to call it Wiimote, no matter how retarded they sound. ;D

Me too. The Weemote is supposed to be this remote that babies use that only lets them go on certain channels.

Tupin

Still calling it the Wiimote, stupid companies pulling out eight-year old blueprints without copyrights to get free money.

A professional company should call it the Wii Remote, anyway.

Wii Remote, eh?  Don't think it will catch on as well.

What a strange move.  They won't be able to quell usage of the term, and they won't be able to get any money out of Nintendo for it since it's not used on their site or in their literature.

Just a shameless move to get press for their product.

Gasp!  I was wrong!  Nintendo does use it on their site!

And this isn't the only instance . . .

EDIT- Here's a Times article on this:

I never called it the Wiimote anyway.

Dude .

I'll stay with Wiimote, because I'm pretty sure it's more popular than Wii Remote.

And from a company that claims rights for sounding like their product? Pfft, we use 2 "i" instead of 2 "e" anyway.

Lotos

They're just butthurt fgts because they're not making as much money as the other Wiimote.
