How are print video game magazines still around?

Seriously. No one reads them for information on game releases, they rarely have breaking news that wasn't already covered a month before, and when they do have brand-new-exclusive-to-their-magazine-only megatons, it is leaked onto the Internet before the issue ever reaches most people. I'm surprised that all of them didn't die in America by like 2003.

Still they are fun to read for the editorials, and the letters people write to the magazine are always good.

Do you read gaming magazines?

no, not anymore, like you said I get any info about new games online

Cecil_and_Kain

Not anymore. The writers are stupid and immature.

Chuffulluffalopagus

I don't like ign because it gave radiant dawn an 8 and I'm too lazy to go to other sites, so I do read magazines.
I'm too lazy for this

Lol, I think 3 million people still read their GamePro.

I get that, EGM, and used to get Nintendo Power before my subscription somehow faded away.

Also with magazines I can read about vidya games and not stare at a screen. Or at least stare at another one, like a TV.

I'm also rather apathetic about the internet, so it gives me info without having to search for it. Lazy, huh.

Would you pay for someone to tell you what movie trailers you just saw before your movie? I wouldn't. I see no point in paying for a service that is not only dying, but is severely lagging behind industry news. The only thing left to possibly read might be an interview, some pics, or letters to the editor, the latter two probably being available online as well. And this isn't just gaming magazines, this is industry wide. The only magazines that don't suffer from this are the ones that are more obscure and have personal opinions and views on topics (see: The Economist, etc.). But even they are not worth it. I wouldn't be surprised if magazines are completely extinct by 2011. Probably even 2010.

That is, if they outlast the bears.

I only read EGM.

The problem I find with most gaming mags (besides the late news we already know) is that most are completely biased.
GameInformer is the worst (they hate everything Nintendo and slurp anything Microsoft does)...not to mention they gave Sonic 06 a 6.0 and Secret Rings a 5.5
That alone proves their incopetance...

GameInformer is owned by Gamestop.

Which explains a lot.

Yes, print media is dying, but who really cares?

I do indeed. They are meant for more than breaking news, after all.

I own an entire year of GameInformer magazines and there is not ONE magazine that has a cover of a Nintendo game.

When asked in the letters page why they don't feature more Nintendo games, they basically said that they cover big games first.

Speaking of which, I haven't seen a Nintendo game that got a 19 page article in GameInformer...
