After the enemy does something, some number of times,he either stops moving or shows you his weak spot for some amount of time, then he gets a new move.

In the first game you unlock all the weapons, gain all the ability's,get all the power ups and open all the worlds. But in the sequel you forget everything, lose every thing and the worlds close up again.

You can get shot many times before getting killed.

You can jump while your in the air.

The bad guy in the game needs to kill you to destroy the world, when he kills you you end up coming back to life.

Every villain has a evil laugh.

In a city, you can find weapons on the ground,IN A CITY!!

People never seem to lock their cars.

No matter how many times you kill the final boss he ends up coming back in the next game.

After the many times you have thwarted a bad guys plan he makes a new one and still thinks you can't stop him.

You and rival/main enemy team up.

Pokemon
When?

Don't you team up with the Rival in D/P, or am I thinking of Rowan's assistant?

Japanese games that have villains with glasses, whom you can always tell are evil when their eyes aren't visible behind their glasses, and their evilness always comes as a huge shock to everyone else. See Kristoph Gavin, many anime-based games.

Evil corporations. See Shinra, Black Mesa, Aperture Science, etc., etc., etc.

One-sided villains whose motives are never explained and seem to do destructive things simply to be evil or because they want powwwwwerrrrrrrrrrr, unlimited poooooooooowwwwwwweeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr. (Doing it for their own amusement because they're psychotic, a la Majora's Mask don't count).

Female characters that are one-sided archetypes (Aeris/Fina as the quiet spellcaster, Yuffie/Aika as the ADD-stricken cheerleader, Peach/Kairi as the clueless/naive damsel in distress, etc.). It's annoying enough with males, but it's especially bad with girls, being that very few are lead protagonists or even major characters.

There's no rival. And no one teams up with Galaxy either.
