Dude, in all honesty the best you could hope for is "friends", since high school is insanely shallow. Generally thats better than risking something awkward...especially at first.

If she thinks you're a creep you'll feel bad for a while but then get over it. It's not the end of the world.
Same thing happened to me, she thought I was a wierdo, and got over it.
Besides, it turns out the friends I have now are a lot more enjoyable to be around than the girl I had a crush on then ;)
