This MIGHT sound gross, but take the corpse. You could use it as a distraction.

Explore the house a little more.

Also, is the map in her native language?

garage... does it have a garage door opener?  if so, does it have a light on there?  if so, take the light bulb and test it in the socket.

take the old rusty key.

uhh, what's our goal here?  to survive?  to find survivors?  to escape?

is the rope attached to anything?  is there anything under the table?

check the corpse for anything useful.

and for the lulz,

use the wrench and bash the teeth out, store them in your backpack.

also, since there's a hole in the corpse, reach in and remove his heart and store it lol

I'll laugh if he actually does that.
Anyway, now we should go to that office from before!

You attempt to stuff the corpse in your backpack for later use. It doesn't seem to fit.

You wonder about taking his heart or teeth, but decide against it. That's icky. But you bash his teeth out with the wrench anyway to vent your frustration.

Suddenly you stop being retarded and decide to just check the dead man for anything useful. His pockets are empty except for a box of 9mm cartridges in one of his back pockets. You load the handgun and put it back in your pocket and store the remaining cartridges in your other pocket with the wrench.

You seem to have forgotten why you even came here. You sit down and meditate, and you remember that you're here to find survivors. Maybe even your family is here. You hope so, anyway.

You look around to see if there's a door to this garage-like room. There doesn't seem to be one...must just be built as a shed with no other way out. A hasty add-on, no doubt.

The rope isn't attached to anything, and there doesn't seem to be anything under the table...

You take the key and store it in the small front pocket of your backpack.

Feeling satisfied, you exit the room and find yourself in the hallway again. You just realize that it's gotten darker. Wasn't there a light on in this hallway before? Maybe the power is out on the whole floor...or worse, the whole building. You feel your way around and eventually make your way back to the boiler room again. You reach for the door handle and turn...but wait, what? It's locked! But you were just in there a few moments ago. Something isn't right here.

You ponder your next move...

the teeth were legitimate... they were something to throw as a distraction...

so was the heart... it was meant to be bait.

by the way, is the corpse warm or cold?

so... what.  gonna find survivors then all die from the grues?  are they all around outside?  if so, then how did you manage to get inside in the first place?  why would your family be here?  is this their house?  if thats the case, you wouldnt need a map, because you would have it memorized.  is this a random rundown building?  in which case, why is your family here?  is it an apartment block? refugee shelter? >_>

grues dont have opposable thumbs, so they can't have locked the door.  knock on the door.

either that, or,

is there any guarantee that this is in fact the boiler room?

no, not at this time
we'll be plagued with indecision because there will be two doors to unlock, but only one hairclip.

use they key on the door.  rust = moist = boiler.

That, or go with my old idea of breaking down the door. We have the tools, of course.

we could go back to the corpse and smash its head, taking out the ear bones to use as lock picks.

you know it would work.

Silverhawk79

Load the gun before doing anything else, and keep the wrench handy. I say now might be a good time to look at the map to figure out where you're at.

grues dont die to guns.  hell, they only die to anti-grues.  i dont see what good a gun does us.
