It's sad to hear but our very beloved Richard Wright has lost all Signs of Life. And it seems our Post War Dream will not be including a reunion, unless of course you consider the Great Gig in the Sky. I, for one, am finding this Sorrow Yet Another Movie, but When You're In, you'll know that the Echoes show that there's Nobody Home, not even In The Flesh. But maybe One Of These Days, we'll Bring the Boys Back Home, and Stop and see One of the Few Get Your Filthy Hands Off my Desert and Take it Back. Coming Back to Life, I wonder If The Hero's Return is is one of Your Possible Pasts, but they don't Speak to Me. Time will tell, though, that as long as there are Pigs on the Wing (Part one), Atom Heart Mother Suite will still Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

So Have a Cigar, as Summer '68 will Set the Control for the Heart of the Sun, but Us and Them will always Wish You Were Here.

Normally I would post "it's old stfu" or something, but death is a sensitive subject, especially for someone like this.

Why do you always have to come into my threads and post things like that? Even if you don't mean it, comments like that utterly destroy the meaning of the entire thread. If I actually cared about being the punctual paperboy and making sure you got the news first, I wouldn't have spent the time writing a post, as I would have simply posted a link and asked how much dignity I've gained by being the first to spread the word. Besides, how old can this possibly be? He died today.

Well, sorry for derailing the thread or whatever. I mourn him too, and I'll shut my trap.

It's also unfortunate that a whopping 10 users at the most will get the references in this thread or even know who Rick Wright is.

But oh well. Yes, I heard about his death earlier today.

For those under a rock, the keyboardist in Pink Floyd.

Which really sucks, I was just getting into them.

Also, I sense this is only one of a billion instances where someone will mention "The Great Gig in the Sky" in dealing with Wright's passing.

Also also, you should have made a reference to "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict."

His music lives on.

Your post is beautiful Dill, about sums up my feelings on the matter. :(

I was trying as hard as I could to reference as many songs without actually confusing everyone. Otherwise, I wouldn't have even mentioned any songs from Dark Side. I was pretty much avoiding any Syd-era references, simply because I didn't want to step into that territory (and that's even more obscure than the others I posted).

It's kind of ironic; just last week I was wondering what I would do if another one of the Pink Floyd members died, as I was really looking forward to the reunion Nick Mason has been alluding to.

First Kurt Vonnegut and now this. It seems only a matter of time before Alan Parsons and Michael Cretu kick the bucket, too.

Yeah...who?

Imagine what Huey Lewis and the News would be like if they did a whole lot of LSD and made new age music with Gregorian chants in the background. That's Michael Cretu. Sometimes you can even hear his way too poppy 80's voice in the background. If you've seen Tropic Thunder, the song that plays during the trailer with Tobey Maquire is by him.

And don't even try to tell me you don't know who Alan Parsons is. You can't say you have good tastes in music and say you haven't heard at least one The Alan Parsons Project song at the same time.
