So I was thinking about getting Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but I can't decide which one :-\

I'm leaning more towards Rock Band 2... So which one should I get? And why?

Silverhawk79

Wait a month for GH:WT. I like the setlist for that game far more than RB2.

RB2, because both setlists are similarly mediocre (GHIV is a tad better), but Harmonix actually knows how to chart. Unlike Neversoft.

Not to mention that Neversoft hasn't yet proven that they're going to have a steady stream of DLC, and ScoreHero says the song creator isn't all that good.

1.What? The charts look more accurate (And fretboard) Than GH3 did for bass/guitar, and bass has open notes.
2.They stated weekly already (Neversoft) So they seem to be getting more on the edge with It.
3.That's true, not really that great, but eh, you never know.

I'm personally getting both, but I'd say this:
-If you're a ps3/2 owner or a 360 owner, get both WT And RB2, just buy WT Now and the disc for RB2 a bit later.
-If you're a wii owner, go with WT, since RB2 will probably be mainly a port of the PS2 Version (They already confirmed no DLC) While WT Allows DLC Even when playing against other people and has most of the features that the 360/ps3 version do (Discluding...line 6 pod ;___; )

I'd say go with WT, because after listening to a majority of RB2's and WT's setlist, ehh...(NOFX And The Living End ftw. ftw; ) Good luck deciding/getting the cash for both If you get both. :P

I respect your opinion and everything, but that is just plain false.

QuoteThe Wii version of Rock Band 2 has been promised to be a "more competitive product" compared with the Wii version of Rock Band, as stated by Wired's Chris Kohler after speaking with Harmonix at the E3 conference. Kohler stated the game will include the ability to download songs and support online play, though will still lack some of the features of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version.

While this doesn't confirm DLC or online at all, there is nowhere at all where EA confirms no DLC.
Though I agree that the 360/PS3 versions would be better to get for Rock Band 2, the Wii version of Rock Band 2 is still comparable to the Wii version of GHWT.

Oh and if you're a 360 owner I would pick up the bundle for RB2 now if you don't have the instruments yet and grab the WT disk when it comes out, as the instruments are cross-compatible.

As far the on disk songs, I like RB2's setlist more.

I just have a Wii. And I might get both... But does WT have the drums and stuff too?

Yeah, WT bundle has game, drums, guitar, and mic, as does Rock Band.

Instruments aren't cross compatible on Wii so you would have to pay around $380 for both games.

Whoops, sorry about that. It does confirm that there port will be better, but I'd still lean towards the wii version of WT More than RB2 until we get more official confirmation about the port. (Tho there is the wiimote flaw) I mean, at this point, we already know most (Probably the rest once the game actually COMES Out, unless we know It all) information about WT.

If you're able to wait but don't plan on getting another system, phaze, I would also suggest trying to play them both at friend's houses after It comes out/reviews/blah and then making a better choice there. There's still a month left before both come out on the wii anyways. :P

Wait, so I won't be able to use my GHIII controller for GHIV?

Nevermind, just read the Nintendo Power article.

Yeah, the instruments work RB-RB2 and GH3-GHWT but just not GH-RB on Wii.

Okay. I don't have RB/RB2 anyways.

I thought the drums for WT and RB were different...

They are... there is someway that they both work across the games on 360 and PS3, but the instruments on Wii use one Wiimote per instrument while Rock Band uses USB, making them incompatible.

Thirdkoopa

I should also add that If you use the WT Drums on RB2, It takes down one note so you use one of your cymbals as one of the notes, and for RB2's drums with WT, they chart It down to four notes instead of five.

They should really work in the RB2 cymbal's as well as the heads, that would make WT's drums a lot less weirder when using.

So basicly, Rock Band 2 is all around better, but World Tour has better songs?
