An artist I am not, but as for Gimp I'm finally getting around to learning how to work it with some level of proficiency.
Here's a little gallery of some old works, and I hope to compare my later works with them and laugh at how horrible they are. :D

My style is... basic and really doesn't change too much... sorry. D: (I'm also into transparency, you'll see in a second...)

It was on purpose.
It was a play on "Meta"

These are possibly the simplest recolors ever, it actually only takes 1 step. :o
I imagine the color definition for Orange would be kind of low because Orange and yellow are kind of hard to manipulate.
