American games can only be played on American DSi's, etc.

But the old/current DS is not region locked so any DS game from any country can be played on your DSi, and you will be able to browse the Internet and exchange photos with friends from anywhere in the world.
Meh.

Would Jump Ultimate Stars work on it? I hope so because it's basically the only game I play nowadays...

No it would not.

I can say I will be keeping by DS Lite.

It costs SO much to make a handheld region-locked, it's pointless.

Oh, and there are games that can only be played on a DSi?

yes...soon...i haven't heard of a title yet, but i know that there will be.

I've seen articles that feature statements from Cammie and the Aussie President of Nintendo, and both say region locking won't happen.

here's another thing to be sad about....

Nintendo has also confirmed that points will not be transferable between the two platforms. So if you register 1000 points on your Wii and spend 500 of them, you can’t then buy something for 500 points on the DSi Store – despite the fact that it’s very likely that you’ll have registered both machines using the same ‘Club Nintendo’ account.

Google it. It is an upgrade to the DS Lite.

Here's the way I see it. If it's not region locked, whoo-hoo. If it is, hackers will find a way to un-region lock it, which will be considerably easy, since it has an SD card slot. So, it won't really be a problem.

Doodle

Meh. I don't have any patience, but I can wait for games to come to America.
YEAH
