New Trivia Game. (Starting up soon again...)

It's been a while since I've done anything like this and I think it might be time to rekindle the love we once had for trivia. Yaaaay.

This is a really basic concept, I think. It's like a regular season in some sports league – you play an even number of “home” games and “away” games, all games are one-on-one. All games are played in live chat. Either on Saturdays or Sundays, and one Monday game is planned to be held each week.

Therefore you should join only if you will be available on Saturday evenings (8-10), Sunday evenings (8-10), and occasional Monday evenings (9-10) (all times ET, and games won't necessarily consume all of the time listed, and may not be held every week). Obviously I cannot expect you to make every game, so we'll have make ups in that instance. Should you miss many consecutive tries at any given game, you will lose that game if the other guy shows up. If you're not scheduled to play, but the people are there, we're obviously likely going to do that to get it done.

All questions are randomly themed.

The game format is:

=> Many general, randomly themed questions will be posed for both players to answer worth different values for each question.
=> Get it right first, you earn those points.
=> The home player will also be allowed to select a general theme for a handful of questions.
--> This does not mean that “anatomy of a dog” is an eligible topic, but “anatomy” in general, I would do. And so “history of the band Daft Punk” is not an eligible topic.
--> This is truly the only advantage the home player has. (Home players may be allowed to select multiple topics for multiple handfuls depending on the game).
=> Games are timed, not played to a certain point value.
=> Schedules will be released by Friday each week so you have time to prepare for when you'll be playing.

So. That's that. Really all it is. You will probably end up playing multiple games on any given night that we can get those games decided in clusters.

With that said, if you want to get competitive, sign up to have some fun. Because it should be. I am obligated to accept an even number of people, by the way. So I may just stop at eight >_>.

Also you should join because:

=> You get your own schedule that looks really fancy and colorful.
=> Trivia is fun.
=> You get bragging rights should you win.
=> Your friends are doing it, peer pressure.

All right, except when I actually schedule events, I make it. Rarely, if ever, do I miss an event I say I'll be at, with times given, unless I cancel beforehand. I never just "don't show up" without prior notice if at all possible.

The weekly games faded out, and you'd be relatively stupid to count that as a load of missed appearances.

I have plenty of reason to post. You never showed up on three separate occasions that I recall, but it was ok because you were jokingly at a sports bar. My reasoning to post is to ask if you'll actually show, or if you're just going to disappear. And saying I'd be relatively stupid doesn't go, either, as it's past experience. I count the US relatively stupid for voting Bush twice, because of his past experience. Thus, without some kind of commitment on your end, I'd be relatively stupid to sign up and assume you'll actually host.

Okay, that would work, except I'd actually canceled on those occurrences and asked folks to tell that I could not attend. Also at the time, no weekly game was ever guaranteed, as I said, because they've been fading out ever since the original forum closed. I'd told everyone at one point not to expect games each week, or as often.

Also, you're not stupid - I never called you this, of course, and you know that. So, I know you'd understand that I wouldn't post a thread advertising events I wouldn't intend on being there for. If that was my intention, I'd just be a deceiving bastard, which I'm fairly certain I am not.

I said you would be stupid if right now you believed that a good number of months of games weren't played because I "didn't show up".

Also, you're contradicting yourself greatly - you think it was unwise for the states to elect Bush based on his past experiences, yet you're wary of my game here and whether I'll show up based on my past experiences? That doesn't make sense.

I would reschedule make up games for the following week, again on either a Sunday or a Saturday. If you can't commit to a certain day, anybody, let me know so I can make sure to be wary of when to put you there.
