Mine hasn't changed, it's still Petey, as he's badass. Diddy is a close second, though.

Luigi has always been a favorite of mine.

Bowser Jr.'s mischevious attitude won me over.

Diddy Kong is just awesome. (Is he offically a Mario char now?)

Baby Yoshi - Only in 1 game but pwns all the same.

King Boo - With his Luigi's Mansion crown, the other one is too boring.

Luigi has always been one of my favorites. I've always liked him better than Mario.

For reoccurring characters, it would have to be Yoshi, Diddy Kong, and Bowser Jr.  They're essentially the only characters I play as in the sports/karts games.  As for single-game characters, it would be Kooper from Paper Mario 1, that fiery shade girl who ends up as a partner in Paper Mario 2, and Bogmire from Luigi's Mansion.
