What improvements would you make to AC:CF?

City Folk, while still a fun game, has been criticized for many things, especially for being TOO similar to the other games.

Yes you do have the City now, but there's really not much depth at all.
Stores close at 9 PM, which I find ridiculous. If you go into any store in a city, there's at least one 24 hour store and most stores will close at about midnight. If anything, you would think they would close later than Nook, but that's not true.

Speaking of Nook, this little tanooki (sp?) has gotten even lazier.
His shop now closes at 10 PM! I don't know about you, but one hour for me makes a big difference.

Then of course there is the point that it is very similar to the previous games.
I definitely do see this as a valid point. Even the jobs Nook gives you to do are the same.

Anyway, so my question is what improvements would you make to Animal Crossing: City Folk?

Personally, I would have loved to see a 24 hour version of Nook's store.
At least there should have been one in the city. People may argue realism, yet there are countless 24 hour stores in the real world.

Then there's the City itself.
This city MUST be expanded upon. What kind of city has no housing and is only located on one street?
This is more of a Town Center than anything else and even then, some town centers do have housing.
The City could have also been a great place for Nintendo to really use Wi-Fi to its full potential in AC:CF, using it as a place to meet up with many other players, not just four friends, but players at least in your region.

I would have also liked for there to be a "job" of some sort in the game.
You start off the game with a part-time job, so why not be able to look for work?
There could have been a full-fledged restaurant in the game where you could work as a waiter or waitress or maybe even work at GracieGrace.
It didn't need to be a complicated job, maybe just a minigame, but it would have been a good way to earn bells.

It may seem that I dislike Animal Crossing: City Folk, but in fact, I don't.
I actually do like the game. I just think there were many improvements that could have been made to the game and to the series itself.

I didn't expect to write such a long post. >_>
I guess I got carried away.  :D

Doodle

It is too similar to the other games. But yeah, still fun.
The city would be cool if it was online. If people were in the city, you would see them, and be able to chat. Maybe shouting out to everyone(like when you have visitors) or talking to a single person. Maybe inviting them to your town, or something.
YEAH

That's what I wish the City would have been like. ;_;

Online for the City is a big one. I'd also speed this one up a bit, as City Life tends to go faster than rural life. It seemed like natural progression to me, but not to Nintendo.

First and foremost, add more city. How can they really even call it a city based on what it is now? There's only one store, and it closes at 9PM. A restaurant, nightclub, a couple more stores, and housing would all be good.

I'm going to steal a few ideas from Harvest Moon, XD

There should some sort of small improvement in friendships with other townsfolk as you talk to them more and more, and speaking of talking to animals, how come that's all you can do?  I remember in he GCN version we could ask for jobs, or be able to just talk to them.  When you talked, there were more things that could come up in the conversations, like trading items and stuff.

Also, another idea from HM; as you use tools more and more often, it would be natural to become better with them right?  There should some kind of sign of increased proficiency as you use tools more and more often.

None of these ideas need to have much depth, they could just be small things to make the game a bit more interesting.

Not to mention that the one store is only for the rich.

I'd really like to buy furniture, too bad Nook's Cranny only has two items a day, and GracieGracie shouldn't even count.

Yeah, that and I haven't encountered Kicks (the shoe-shiner) or Phineas (the balloon man) once makes my trips to the city dreadfully short.

I've seen Kicks once, but I've never seen Phineas.
I didn't even know his name...

Kicks never comes out during snow I guess...

On topic,I never played the previous games so I wouldn't know if its too similar.
But I would want a larger city and online for it,basicly what you guys said.

I would also like for the house items in the game to actualy be able to be used.Because you basicly want bells for stuff to put in your house,so why not be ably to use them?
Here are some examples.

Piano-I virtual keyboard where you can play piano. Also the keys light up so you can play your towns song.
Japanese drum-You move the Wii remote to pound the drum.
Bicycle-Be able to use it around your town.
Chalk board-Use the Wii remote to draw things on your chalk board, they stay there until you erase.
Telescope-same as the town telescope.
Tv/computer-A slide show of your in game pictures.Click it to see it full screen. And if Nintendo wasn't cheap be able to watch sd videos.

Those are just some of the dozens of items in this game.

The good thing is that with the automatic DLC, they can add new stuff.

I'd add these, maybe more:
Allow the Nook catalog to sell you items like Gyroids, Fossils, and holiday items that you've already collected. Also give it the ability to list more types of items that you've collected, like tools.

Make the stores close much later, especially Nook's 10:00 closing. Midnight for all shops would be nice.

Add more things to the city. The only things that make me really care about the city are Shampoodle and Shrunk, both of which are good for just one visit and then pointless afterwards. (unless the emotes you wanted aren't available the first day or you messed up your hairstyle by answering the questions wrong).
Some of the things I'd add to the city are:
Concert Hall for KK Slider
Additional specialized shops
Houses (or... apartments or hotel?)
Various buildings that are just for show
Wi-Fi

Give more camera controls to the outside, maybe also make trees be semitransparent when you're behind them. I've had to use the up d-pad a lot to see behind trees and it's annoying especially when the angle resets after you do anything. The indoors camera is nice with the 9 possible angles, though I'd like something like a complete 180 degree rotation around your character. And zooming out while outdoors would also be good. Or having an option to show faint gridlines that separate the 25 acres.

Make an in-game calendar showing the festivals.

In the pattern maker, add option to show guidelines for something like umbrella and hat (rather than using the 4 included patterns for reference) along with the option to preview other items besides shirt. And make it possible to pause the preview's rotation.

Make it possible to apply patterns to hats other than the conehat for girls or the horned hat for boys. Maybe either unlock hat models with the hats you buy or replace the texture while you're wearing a purchased hat. Also, use the "Pro Design" method on things other than shirts, like wallpaper/carpet (separate patterns for the four corners, four sides, and center or something like that). Additional shirt types would be nice; at least using a normal shirt instead of a skirt for girls is one I really want but other shirt types like aprons, robes, etc. would also be good. And let the boys' pants have a pattern applied.

The ability to track other villagers would be nice.

Increasing the maximum Wi-Fi visitor count above four. Maybe 16 is good.

For screenshots, add an option to automatically save to SD immediately after capture along with making it save as PNG instead of JPG.

Add a way to get non-KK songs that exist in Animal Crossing, like the hourly outdoors tunes, the 6 variations of the museum song (each section, including lobby and stargazer have a slightly different tune), the various Nook store tunes, the city music, etc. for use in your house music players.

Let villagers talk about various bugs/fishes/fossils/paintings/gyroids/furniture/songs/whatever that you haven't obtained yet and make a notepad or whatever to list the ones you've heard of but not yet collected.

Make there be a collection of pre-made star constellations.
