If you've got a few million in the bank, and you love titles like Goldeneye 007 you may consider purchasing Free Radical Design.

The company, known for work their staff that worked with Rare on Perfect Dark and Goldeneye 007, two quality titles, and their own Timesplitters franchise announced temporary closure on December 18, 2008. More so, though, just recently they announced that they were indeed for sale.

Now, with a Pedigree like Timesplitters and being involved in the aforementioned N64 giant hits, you have to wonder what company wouldn't snatch these guys up. Of course, with 75% of the staff no longer being with the team, and key members forming new developer Pumpkin Beach, one can imagine many cold shoulders.

Regardless, if you've got a few million dollars lying around, you could do the gaming world a favor, and pick up Free Radical. Or, you can let companies like EA, Activision, and who knows who else bid for them. Regardless, the gaming world should face interesting change for 2009.

If I were a company, I would be much more interested in buying the name of the company rather than the company itself. You're basically paying for nothing, or at best, a company in which that all of the people that made it famous/good left.

Oh, and Pumpkin Beach is an awesome name. Reminds me of Pumpkin Hill.  :D
