We know Yahoo is as good of a news source as Fox, so why not believe this?

Apparently, within some 6 hours of witnessing trauma, playing Tetris blocks some of the memory out....kind of intercepting. The color and shape recognition causes the brain to change its patterns, and this means flashbacks and memories won't be as sever in the long run.

Interesting, if true.

So, discuss how awesome vidya games are in daily life. Shooters help you study? Do you train your brain or your body? Shoot.

HTA!

Whenever I need to think, I'll play a strategy game such as Fire Emblem or FF.
They get me to focus on one thing at a time, and in the long run get my problems sorted out quicker.

Lotos

I used to play Tetris DS in my head somehow when I was obsessed with it back in 8th grade if that counts for something :P

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh....well I guess me playing Brawl all the time, I'm quicker on the register......

Touch Screen!  =3

Doodle

Um...when I first started playing Guitar Hero, I could close my eyes and see the notes just coming down...
But Guitar Hero got old, so that doesn't happen anymore. :)
YEAH

I wonder how DDR would help you...

My hand-eye coordination has improved thanks to the vidya.

Did that picture really need a caption >_<

Gaming is a great brain stimulus, really.  I'm not surprised.  The pretty colors fitting together so nicely makes you feel like everything is right with the world ^_^

Tupin

Um, I guess my reaction time is quicker, and I can sense if a person is standing near me.

Don't know if the last one is just my instinct, or what.

I've experienced something similar!  I've plaid a lot of Tetris one day!  Tried to sleep, and  when I closed my eyes, I was flashed with images of Tetris pieces!  I got really dizzy and had to open my eyes ever so often.  I had difficulty sleeping!  I eventually got use to the tetris pieces, and I stop imaging them in my sleep.  I got really good at tetris too :)!

It scares me a little. I could have been abused heavily as a child and just completely not remember because I've been blitzing my mind with Tetris for the last two and a half years now.

I do find meditative qualities in it when I play. Sometimes it can really relax me and just clear my head of all thoughts. Usually I find playing it for a few minutes before I go to sleep can be quite useful.
There is also the Tetris effect, but I've long gotten past that phase. Was pretty darn bad when I had it though.
