Kaz Hirai said several comments today that are sure to be poured over by the company specific gaming media outlets.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=206201

Among them are the statements that they are not competing with Nintendo, that the only word he can use to describe the 360 is "a word that means lacking longevity", and saying that the PS3 will be on top unless something goes REALLY bad.

Oh, and unrelated to that article, but this HAS to take the cake on Sony PR comments.

""We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?" explained Hirai."

He's basically saying that they are going to make the console hard to program for on purpose so only the developers THEY want to push the hardware can.  :|

No wonder it takes so long for PS3 games to come out...

So they put it as....

PS3
WII
360

instead of.....
360
Wii
PS3
I'm not sure what you're making on the second list there. As much as I hate to say it, the Wii firmly holds number one. In fact, 360 + PS3 still would leave Wii well ahead. In terms of how the console itself performs, and general lineup, then I agree.

Yesterday, sort of. I was on the verge of crying. Why? I got into an argument with a couple other people from #nsider and it got me really upset. I didn't really cry much though

I don't really like either of them if that makes you feel any better.  I've gotten more enjoyment out of my PS3 than I ever did my Wii and the only game I've really liked playing on the 360 was Fable 2.

I guess that's what happens when I go to a "Nintendo" forum. I don't get what you people don't like about the PS3.

Why does everyone hate the Wii here? o_o
But yeah, Sony is pretty retarded.
YEAH

The wii seems to cater to people who are of the older crowd, non gamers.

The wii to me is a disappointment.
I mean sure it has some good games, but come on...... The wii can be a lot better then what it is.
It's no where near on Par with the other 2 systems.

SURE the Wii has gameplay thats better then the other systems, but thats about it.

I'm not even talking about "graphics" either, I don't care about that.

The other systems caters to more games of what I'm looking for, and it's online features seem to be done right,
while the Wii is just............. not a hardcore gamers system (compared to the other systems).

SSBB for example.......though it's good......it's made for anybody to play.
As in a 44 year old female can play along side a 18 year old who's been playing Smash in general for years.
Thats fine, but they just made this game too easy.
NOT to mention it's horrific online capability. :|
It's highly disappointing and frustrating.
Some games are good games, true to the hardcore people like me, I won't deny that at all, but the shovelware
crap we are getting from Wii..............
Um yeah....
wth.

It seems you don't enjoy the Wii that much, what a shame.

StarWindWizard7

I have a total of what..... 4 games?
If Nintendo would make games where you know....... it's actually good for Everybody, then
I'd have by now 9.

Game cube games I have a total of 39. Nintendo 64, Lol, I can't even remember.
Back then Nintendo "Seemed" to care more about it's true fans then trying to bring in Older crowds.

I enjoy what I have from Nintendo, which is now becoming very limited.

It's not a shame for me enjoying Nintendo... It's a disappointment.

Nayrman

Um, Star, Nintendo hasn't tried to bring in the older gamer crowd since Goldeneye X_X;;
Wii's problem is that they're blatantly not trying. I'm fine with the online not being spectacular, but Nintendo isn't even trying. I'm fine with graphics that are sub par, but again, Nintendo won't even give the system graphics good enough to even be average. So on and so forth.

Hirai needs to shut up...honestly.
PS3 is just hard to code for. Otherwise it's just as good as the 360. Unfortunately that turns a few developers off, but oh well. They'll learn their lesson. Although Hirari is right about the longevity thing. PS3 is more than capable of lasting about seven years if Sony wanted to go that long.

StarWindWizard7

What do you mean?

Wii fit, and Wii sports....those are 2 of Nintendo's attempt to bring in "Non gamers".
Imagine if they took that focus and made something really impressive.

Those games are horrid.......
IMO
