How long does it take you to get comfortable with a forum?

After a long break from a forum, I notice that I tend not to post a lot until I get the feel of the forum again.

It depends.

If I'm new, and the place suits me, I jump right in.
If I'm coming back, there needs to be a reason to make me stay, or I'll merely lurk.

It kinda takes me a little while to fit in with a forum... I need to know who's who and stuff... Find common ground and stuff like that... If I don't I just lurk around...

I usually know immediately if I am going to stick around. This place was obvious, but take other forums...bluexoon = anime + stepmania when I joined, so that was obvious. GHA was kinda slow so I knew I'd drop it.

Stuff like that.

Depends on the site. Some I can become apart of quickly, others I never fully feel apart of and simply lurk.

FCD 3 years ago was great, and really casual, nobody acting all high and mighty or whatever, so I went right in and just followed it to here.

This is actually the only forum I'm active on at all, cuz of how I fit in, and I don't have time to check up on more than one, really.

Depends on if I know the users. It helps to be around when the forum is just starting up.
I'm kinda active here since I am a member of FCD and followed the migrations. =P

On most other forums I join for a few reasons and post until I get my answers. After that I'll become inactive and probably won't get back on unless I find more questions/ reasons.
