Help for a friend

He posted this elsewhere, but has yet to get help.

Ok, I need some help finding something.
I was just given a PSX console. Please note, this is NOT a PS1. PSX was an entirely seperate console released in Japan.
The system doesn't work. There's a part on the motherboard that is fried, but I don't know which.
Can somebody please help me try to find some info on possibly replacing parts on it? I've done part replacements for an Odyssey (console from 72), so I know parts are out there, but PSX was pretty rare, especially in America.
I can't find anything. Can any of you attempt to bail me out here? I'd really appreciate it.

If so, it's not any rarer than a normal PS1 and he would be better off just tossing it. The things can be found so cheaply it's not worth repairing unless it has a mod or something.
