Good news: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is coming to Nintendo's system this winter, and older, classic RE titles will hit the console as well.
Bad news: Darkside is a sequel to Umbrella Chronicles.

More on-rail shooters :(
=========================

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is a sequel to the 2007's Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and expands on events in Resident Evil 2 by chronicling Leon Kennedy's early career in South America. Claire Redfield is back in the mix, as well and the gameplay is on-rails shooting with an active camera and co-op, either with a pal or the game's AI.

According to Capcom, The Darkside Chronicles will feature "Many of the missing pieces of storyline that were not covered in the original Umbrella Chronicles. Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles will give hardcore fans the chance to re-live some of the most classic moments of the Resident Evil franchise, while allowing new players to take advantage of the intense action-horror experience only possible on the Wii."  That sounds great to me!

"We are very excited to be bringing the sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles to the Wii as we feel the gameplay and content are a perfect fit for the Wii platform," said Capcom's Mona Hamilton in a press release. "We are always looking for new ways to give Capcom fans a chance to experience our games. Umbrella Chronicles was a huge success for us, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is an improvement with a more in-depth co-op experience, and we are excited to bring this exclusive content to the Wii audience."

Also in the works for the Wii: a new Resident Evil "Classics" line that includes Wii versions of Nintendo GameCube games Resident Evil Remake (a 2002 improved version of the 1996 original) and Resident Evil Zero (a 2002 prequel).

Is this enough horror and zombie-shooting to convince you to blow the dust off your Wii-motes?
