I loved MGS and MGS2 to death and consider them to be two fo the best games ever made.  Why did they have to go and make MGS3 so overly complicated and drowned in useless concepts?

Camo is basically useless as they'll still see you most of the time even if your camo gauge is at 95%.  Curing yourself every 5 seconds gets tedious and old.  Having to constantly find food is also a chore.  It seems that the only things that keep me going in this game are the story and the graphics.

Maybe one day I won't be so young and poor and I'll be able to play MGS4.

1. It's not THAT bad, but it's pretty annoying I admit
2. MGS3 was an attempt to make the "spy" game more realistic in terms of what is actually necessary to survive. Too bad none of it worked X_X;;
3. Camo works just fine, you move around too much...
4. MGS4 is okay, too much gunplay imo

Even when I lay cold-still in the grass with 95 camo rating, they still see me.

Note the 5 percent. These guys are already on high alert(Note: The Boss knows your there after all) so if they see what looks like a really out of place, solid grass they're going to check it out.

Also I think it's the best Metal Gear game. I like how they added all that stuff and i think it's better. Plus 2nd best soundtrack and best main theme really add to it.

Oh Vesperia, never change... never change

It goes like this: MGS3=MGS1>MGS2>MGS4 (LOL NANOMACHINE)

And yes, that camo and self healing is quite annoying, but I eventually go used to it.

Triforceman22

It goes like this.

MGS3>MGS4>MGS1>MGS2

IMO.

Are you playing on Hard or Extreme? That would be why. Otherwise, you're moving, using an unsilenced gun, or doing something pretty dumb. If you don't like camo, you're not going to like MGS4 much, either.

QuoteCuring yourself every 5 seconds gets tedious and old.
This is why one avoids firefights. Stamina only decays quickly on Hard+, and as long as you lay down and stay put, it'll kick back some health pretty quickly.

QuoteHaving to constantly find food is also a chore.
Food is freaking everywhere.

Essentially all of these points apply on higher difficulties, but MGS's difficulty curve has always been batpoop, anyway. It's either ridiculously easy or ridiculously hard. The only exception is Solid Normal on MGS4, which is pretty balanced. If you're having that much difficulty, move down to Easy or (lololo EZGun) Very Easy.

The last battle in Metal Gear Solid 4 was filled to the brim with so much amazingness I think I had a heart attack. Seriously, the most epic boss battle ever. Everything they did was so great.

Yeah, not spoiling it. But the people that played it know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, Metal Gear Solid 3 wasn't terrible. In all honesty its probably better than MGS2. Comparing it to the original though is just...stupid.

at least they tried new things. The only way that final boss in MGS4 could've gotten more epic is if for the last part they used the choral version of the Metal Gear Solid theme. Now THAT would've got some tears flowing.

Why do you think inherently stupid AI is commonly given the name "metal gear solid syndrome"

Are you kidding me?! MGS3 is the best title in the whole series. Gameplay and storywise.

This is my rank of the main titles : MGS3>The Twin Snakes>>>4>2

Flying Chickens

I haven't played MGS3, but I have heard good things about the sniper boss whose name escapes me.

He's called The End. You either love him or you hate him, depending on whether you're willing to sit back and wait for him to make a mistake.
