...why am I suddenly reminded of Skies of Arcadia? That exploration mechanic might actually work really, really well for Zelda.

At the very least, it'd be better than the steampunk that some people want.

I was going to say this. The "tri-force" is actually called a Delta, it's from some other language to my knowledge. Get over it.
