My school is delayed for 2 hours due to rain in the Houston area, I just don't see why they can't completely cancel it for the day.

Ever had something similar happen?

It's called rain ya pansies. I had to go to school in a freaking hurricane (well, the border of a hurricane anyway), and we still went to class.

And Texas prides itself on being tough, PFFT! You guys don't even deal with snow, c'mon now!

I didn't even go to school. =\
It wasn't delayed or anything, my mom was all like "IT'S RAINING, U NO GO TO SCHOOL".

Talim

They never cancel school here. >> It never rains anymore. And if they cancelled school when it snowed we'd never have to go to school.

Lucky. College is very rarely ever cancelled. :(

A couple of years ago, some kids burned down some sort of storage shed witch ended up causing school to be canceled. I was waiting for the bus for like 20 minutes that day.

It was flooding around here too, that doesn't mean we didn't go to school.

Oh...  We had flooding last year, yet they never did a thing... wait.  Flooding started after school ended...
meh

The main reason it was delayed was probably because the roads would be horrible to drive on in traffic and underwater.

I may live in Texas now, but I'm from Utah.  I've had snow days before too.

Actually, the Houston area is notorious for its flooding, so it's not a surprise. A bay and no way to shed water off is not a good combination. Anyway, Dallas isn't even closing its schools for swine flu until someone dies, so water isn't stopping us. Of course, like always, the suburbs around us are closing schools...

Hurricanes.
Flash flooding, 90-150 MPH Winds
Lightning... rain is intercourse ing dangerous.

We had school canceled over A CAT 1 once, was pretty fun to go outside and skim board on the road.
Until power went out... :(
