Because hockey is a deeper sport. :P

Different teams have different strategies.  Teams in the west are almost always more defensive than teams in the east (the blackhawks being an example of an eastern west conference team, the devils being the opposite).  Teams in the east rise and fall quickly, have their day, then leave.  Teams in the west build from the ground up and create long lasting powerful forces.

Detroit is a puck possession team.  The Ducks are also this, but to a lesser extent, and have less depth of talent.  They are a much rougher team, but in the end only stayed in the series because of how good Hiller was.  The Ducks were the only other team that had a chance at the cup this year.

Pittsburgh sandbagged for 5 years to take top draft picks.  Although it's a really shameful way to build a team, they have received success from it, obviously.  It has also lead to disarray, however, evident in their unstable coaching jobs and their near playoff miss.



Simply watching one game of good (note: not Blows) hockey shows that the game has far more depth. -_-

teams that hit the puck wildly are teams that get raped.  Good teams try to set up shots.  You can only hit someone who has the puck, or just got rid of it.  Some of the saves are amazing.

The complexity of basketball compared to hockey is NASCAR compared to F1.  In the end, yes, the same thing is happening, but Hockey is a much more complex game.

Oh, and might I add, the last period was like a concert. Sweet Caroline and Rock and Roll All "Nite" were both drowned out by the fans singing.
