To avoid multiple threads like this, I'm going to attempt to consolidate them into this big thread. Please provide a letter grade for Sony, MS, and Nintendo. Preferably explain your rating to lessen the effects and accusations of fanboyism.

Sony gets major ballsy points, and they also have a good batch of games that bridge the way into 2010: Brutal Legend, Assassin's Creed, Infamous, you get the idea. Solid upcoming games as well. PS3mote looks very, very promising, and the fact that the engineers mentioned "envision a mage throwing fireballs" and the enemy tech demo with shuriken, sword, arrows, makes me very hopeful. Seems they want to use it to create games that might actually have more than novelty value. The only thing that I think is going to flop is the PSP Go. A-.

Microsoft has a solid batch of sequels and a slightly dumbed-down version of FFXIII. However, not many new exclusives that interest me. It looks like Microsoft is playing it safe and doing what they know best. There's nothing wrong with it, but the lack of anything specifically for the 360 that interests me at this point pushes me more towards the PS3. B.

Nintendo continues to disappoint, and unless they majorly change their ways for Wii 2, I don't envision buying myself another console from them. Red Steel 2 might be cool with WMP if it isn't buggy. Crystal Bearers looks to be a solid RPG. Metroid: Other M looks to be good (and hey, Samus was some nerdy scientist in her early days. Who'd think?), but it's not out until 2010. SMG2 will be good, but it's more of the same (only with Yoshi this time). The "hardcore" third party games that Nintendo mentioned are all horror FPSs (Conduit, Dead Space) that I don't give a poop about. New Super Mario Bros. looks somewhat solid, but will probably be like the original NSMB: you'll play through it once and have a blast, and then never come back to it again. Multiplayer looks gimmicky.

Wii Vitality is a gimmicky crock of poop. It has potential (like I was telling to Silver earlier, imagine a game like Eternal Darkness where Vitality measures your heart rate, and as you get more and more nervous, sanity effects start creeping up more and more), but Nintendo is going to use it for shovelware and casualware.

The major redeeming point of the conference is GOLDEN SUN DS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!, but it appears to be pretty early in the development stage, and Camelot is a big proponent of the Miyamoto Doctrine. It probably won't be out until Summer or Fall 2010. Mario and Luigi 3 should also be fun. C-.

Quick grades:

Microsoft: B+, Extra points for making an underrated game like Crackdown be a big part, although that was their only risk here.

Nintendo: D+, COULD have been a C, but Vitality Sensor? Fuck you.

Sony: A. From the first hour, I was ready to give it an F. No exciting games, no new unveilings, just a PSP Go (which we found out of last week) and showing off mediocre games. I was about to turn off the stream (no, I really was) and I noticed they looked to be unveiling something good: The PS3mote, which is what the Wiimote WAS supposed to be, but Sony was trying to do it correctly. It looked amazing, since it seemed they were trying to use it as something other than a gimmick. Also, ModRacers, which is LBP and Mario Kart's lovechild.

Sony: A
PSP Go should've been $200 at the max, if it wants to compete with the DSi.

Nintendo: C-
Wii Fit Plus.....yay >_>
At least they didn't make a Wii balance board plus....

NSMB Wii, should've shown/talked more about it....not just throw people on and let'em play it...

M & L Bowsers inside story: RELEASE DATE PLEASE it's been 4 months sence it came out in japan...

Also, Wii Sports Resort, I'm glad they show'd more games for it, because before today....we really didn't know anything about it :O :) :-X

and this vitality sensor.....what is Nintendo turning into a stay healthy with video games company? >_>

Get cammie off stage....I'll take Reggie anyday

and where was/is miyamoto to talk about the games that he designed? [SMG2]
-----------------------------------------
Microsoft: ???

Didn't watch it.
I've only seen the hands free thing

Wait, Miyamoto got his OWN conference?
Awesome.

Macawmoses

He gets his own address, yes. After all, he doesn't fly from Japan to just chill.

Tupin

They are showing Modnation Racers right now, assuming Miyamoto is up next?

Tuppy frightens me with his knowledge of legacy technology.

Microsoft - Solid B-
No real exclusives outside of Halo (a.k.a. the most overrated series ever), but it still looks like a decent to good game. Other than that not any real news. Everything else they have is also going to be in the PS3. Still good games, but no reason to buy a 360 over a PS3 other than price point (and frankly the extra features like free internet and better multimedia can outweigh the price). Solid, but nothing spectacular.

Nintendo - D
Other than maybe two or three games, extremely little to care about. Galaxy 2 and NSMBWii look fun like always, but pretty much the same thing we already played. I don't particularly mind, but for a company that loves to play the "innovate" card, they certainly aren't doing a lot of it. Metroid Other M looks fantastic, can't wait to see the game in motion. Golden Sun is a major godsend, but other than announcement no information was given. Wii Vitality... yea... we know it's going to be a terrible piece of s***, moving on. All the supposedly "core" games we already knew about, and many of those are barely worth looking at. Why should I buy the rail shooter RE or Dead Space when a much BETTER game in those series is on the 360/PS3? Conduit looks fun as always though. Mario and Luigi 3 in the fall, but nothing on the DS. And no Reggie/Cammie. No one f***ing cares about a stupid virtual novel, a fashion flash game *NOT a good way to endear to 20 somethings men*, or a blatant GTA clone. Other than a couple of games, nothing to look forward to, and failed to impress... again.

Sony - A
Great press conference. Said and showed exactly what we needed to hear. While the PSP Go! will probably do nothing important, it seems like a decent evolution of the PSP, and probably a test of the PSP2 on whether it'll be harddrive only and downloading games. A solid idea and it'll be worth looking at. PS2 still having games after 10 years? That's impressive if I have to say so. A LONG list of good games coming out in a steady stream well into 2010. Great to hear. Not to mention actually having exclusives which is why I bought a PS3. Team Ico, God of War 3, Final Fantasies, and lots of other good quality games. Not to mention a really cool looking motion control that they showed to actually work and will work in the games gamers actually care about. While Nintendo did absolutely nothing with their piece of plastic. Very, very good.

So you hate Microsoft's for not liking them (since I can't see you not at least THINK OF TRYING one), and you don't like Sony's for not liking them.

I thought Nintendo killed off their fanboys when they switched to casual.
