Quote"Uh yeah, we're doing a whole Green Day Rock Band...uh. I'm not sure...soon. Like I think not this week, but this year soon...by the end of this year." - Green Day lead singer Billy Joe

That comes from GoNintendo. However, it doesn't say if it is a full fledged game, track pack, or set of releases. Any ideas or news?

Are there any Green Day songs you would want to play as releases? Or are you a hater?

Haven't heard much of them, but it better be their rock and not their pop. Haven't heard of this game/track pack/etc. but I guess it could turn out okay.
I dunno hao 2 put imgs heer :(

This, but I do like some of their stuff. Boulevard of Broken Dreams is probably my favorite song by them, and I also like Wake Me Up When September Ends. Other than that, I haven't heard that much from them, and what I have heard, I don't particularly like.

It's just dependent on what they put in the game, I guess. If it's a game like Beatles Rock Band, then I will probably not get it.
Holy crap all my sigs were always poop. Best leave this space alone.

It's seems we have differing tastes in music. I don't really like those songs. I consider them to be more of their pop-rock stuff. Pop-rock in general is okay, but it's about half and half for me. I like their punk rock better; "American Idiot" is pretty good and one of their new songs "Know Your Enemy" I believe it's called, is really good.

So guys, it's a series of releases for next week. Phew.

Level_9_Chao

I still don't see how they can really add much variety in Green Day songs. It's either slow stuff, or 3 chords the whole time.

Of course I'd prefer this over a lot of other potential bands.

If they do Green Day before, say, Dream Theater or Rush, then there is some epic epic fail involved. I mean, I can see the commercial possibility, but, uh... please please the fans, please? At least they're doing a Pearl Jam one...

Looks like we have a bit in common in taste in music. I agree with your DLC choices. They totally need more "real" bands and some actually difficult stuff. They did give us the Yngwie Malmsteen pack, but we can only have so much fun with three songs (still must download...). The Megadeth album looks good too, but still. It must be part of some sort of capitalist corporation marketing technique. All I'm trying to say is that they're trying to appeal to "casuals" a.k.a. the death of hardcore gaming, with mainstream music in an attempt to roll in the dough. I guess it makes sense, but it's not good for those of us who actually care about getting in the top 100 on the leaderboards, rather than inviting retarded, popular, hypocrite, pseudo-homosexual, vagina cleaning devicebags over my house so that we can play Rock Band 2 and totally mess up the songs and play on medium and get 3 stars on every song and have a stupid sleepover. That last sentence basically means: "casuals are dumb".

There's nothing wrong with playing on easy, not doing well on a song, etc. I just don't like the fact that casuals really don't respect the games they play and that they don't really care or see the "art" in video games; in making them and playing them.

Whoops, went off topic.  :-[ My bad.  D= Anyway, I'll take a look at the Green Day pack and if I'm feeling generous, I'll give it a try.

Uh huh. I love the difficult stuff, but it also has to actually be decent sounding. Early Megadeth is great, and the Yngwie songs are cool. If they had more Dream Theater and Rush, it would definitely appeal to both of these. I'm also still waiting on somebody to completely destroy the "60's barrier." What I mean by that is, get a little more into it than The Rolling Stones. They're working on it with The Beatles Rock Band, for sure. But I'd like to see a Chicago Rock Band, with the full band up there. Sure, it won't probably happen, but how many people out there can say they don't want to sing along to 25 Or 6 To 4 with Terry Kath and Lee Loughnane on-screen? It's all about innovation. But what people tend to do (as we've seen with GH for quite a while already) is that when they see a pattern that works, they stick with it. I'm really happy with The Beatles Rock Band. It's taking what I expected out of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith but wasn't actually put in the game. For example, the changing of the group over the years, the detail in the venues, the instruments (especially the new peripherals). Harmonix is very good at innovation, so we can probably expect a quite a bit more interesting stuff from them in the upcoming years.

Back to what you were originally talking about, though. They already released the Rush album Moving Pictures, which was met with a huge wave of fan appreciation. So, unless they're blind, there will be a much larger Rush collection coming to Rock Band. This is pretty evident with AC/DC, as well. I mean, AC/DC and Led Zep were probably the two most wanted bands for a Rock Band or Guitar Hero game. Harmonix answered and brought us AC/DC, which immediately got its own Track Pack. So, what I'm saying here is that I could see a Rush Track Pack in the future, but Dream Theater needs to be established a bit more in the rhythm game community.

Now, if you were off-topic, what am I? Ha.

I'm not a huge fan of Green Day but I do like a few of their songs and I wouldn't mind seeing some of them on there.

Longview, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Holiday and Basketcase are a few of their songs I wouldn't mind playing.

I would like to get your Gamertag sir (please have Xbox please have Xbox). Mine's: Leviathan 39

I see what you mean with the "60's barrier" Guitar Hero has done a bit about it with Jimi Hendrix, (is Wings from the 60's? Probably 70's. I don't know) Credence (spelling?) Clearwater Revival, and a few others. Rock Band is doing a bit about it too with some of the Grateful Dead and The Who. I'll send you a buddy request or whatever they are.  :)

By the way, Samus is AWESOME and is the best Nintendo character EVER! Speaking of Nintendo, they need to step up their game with rhythm games. More on topic, they need their music games to be just as good as the Xbox 360 or PS3 ones, especially in terms of DLC (such as these Green Day).

Sorry for being off topic again Macbeth. I just didn't want to start a new thread or something. I don't know. Again, I'm new here.

I'd like to play that.  21st Century Breakdown is one of the best albums I've heard in a while.

Plus their backlog is nothing short of greatness.

Know Your Enemy is total poop. The entire song is the same, the verses are the same as the chorus. It's retarded.

You guys need to get more into the older stuff. Basket Case, Nice Guys Finish Last, etc.

If they make a Green Day Rock Band, I think my head may explode.
Because I despise Green Day.
