Mario Kart DS introduced the loved franchise with a new technique known as snaking. Only to have it taken away in the Wii installment of the franchise. What is your take on snaking?

Personally, I don't mind it. But for me, it was too much in Mario Kart DS. In a race full of snakers, one small mistake and a loss was basically automatic. If there is to be snaking in the next Mario Kart game, I would rather see some kind of middle ground. It's not fun having to be "perfect" the whole race, you need to have room for mistakes.

I accepted it as part of the game, used it, etc. But I'm not at all sorry it is gone, and honestly, it should stay that way (as it was unintentional, iirc). Regardless, Mario Kart's of the future will have more to exploit, be it snaking or not.

Snaking was in Mario Kart way before the DS game...

I have no problems with it. It's like knowing advanced techs in Smash that give a player a clear advantage if the opponent doesn't know them. Wanna win? Learn to snake. The people who say it's unfair are the ones who can't do it.

There was always turbo boosts. But you couldn't use them like you could in MKDS.

Double Dash and 64 both had snaking X_X;;
And they worked pretty much the same way.

I never bothered to use Snaking, much like wavedashing, so I don't care for its absence.

Shujinco2

I snake. And I play lots of people who snake. And it's totally fun.

My thing is, Snaking in Mario Kart is the equivalence of Wavedashing, Bomb Jumping, DIing or any other AT that was in SSB. It's used to better your advantage. Cheap? No. Helpful? Yes.

I'm not that great at snaking, and don't use it too often, but I still think it's a good feature and should stay in the game. I don't see what people think is wrong with it, it's just another trick to better your chances of winning. If both players do it, it evens it out. If one player does it, they have an advantage. Just like getting an amazing item will give you an advantage, while if you continually get poopty ones you're SOL.
I get obsessively manic over things. It's a problem.

Doodle snaking should stay forever you crazy kid. It's fun. D:

I wouldn't consider that snaking. :\
In Mario Kart 64, it takes way too long to charge up a turbo boost. You wouldn't be able to snake in that game, especially on the straight-a-ways.

It's still possible, and a tech that's been in all the Mario games.
Actually with heavy characters Snaking isn't TOO difficult on Straightaways in MK64.

What is snaking?
Basically, it's constantly getting a constant power boost from drifting.
This video does a good job of showing what it's like and how to do it.

...As others have said, snaking is a technique that is useful...
...If one cannot snake or chooses not to, then it is that person's fault for not doing it...
...Snaking can be learned easily and is win...no johns...
