Hypothetical. Let's say Nintendo gives up for whatever reason and sells EVERYTHING, including Mario, Zelda and all that other jazz. It was just released now who they sold it to and what they will do with it, but I didn't read the article, so you tell me. (So basically say some random company bought the Nintendo stuff and what that company did with it, or maybe some nerd buys it and starts his own company, whatever you want, just say how what happens)

Dude .

Gwen Khan

wait, what are you asking exactly?

The more I read, the more my brain started to hurt.

Mario and Zelda would turn for the worst like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.
"I know they hope I fall, but tell 'em winning is my muthaeffin protocol."

Captain Justice

Everything would prolly get better, except for Mario.

Yesterday, sort of. I was on the verge of crying. Why? I got into an argument with a couple other people from #nsider and it got me really upset. I didn't really cry much though

I'll just answer the topic's question...
If Nintendo sold all their franchises then most of the franchises would never be the same. Some might be better and some might turn out worse.
Vague answer ololol.

OHHHHHHH

Well, many would likely get necessary overhauls. I'm looking at you - Star Fox, F-Zero, etc. So, I think they would come more into the limelight...while the big three (Mario, Pok?mon, and Zelda) would likely never be the same, and in my eyes, crippled. Also, Nintendo board get.

Captain Justice

F-Zero on the Xbox/PS3 would be insane

There's no way Mario, Zelda, or Pokemon could be done better by another company, but some other series might benefit.  Imagine:  Square Enix in charge of Fire Emblem!

I could see Zelda maybe getting better.....for one you could get some awesome graphics and huge worlds to explore. They would finally add voice acting (don't give me that crap that VA would ruin Zelda......because it wouldn't), and the controls would be better (no motion). Only Problem is the story may get worse......but maybe not.

Mario could also get better. Once again bigger worlds and better graphics, and since Mario has no story to begin with, that can't be screwed up. Also Paper Mario could  be made like the first two, no SPM bullpoop.

Pokemon idgaf about but I'm sure it couldn't get worse.

I don't really care about those three though, since Nintendo does just fine with them. The ones that would be most interesting to see would be:

-Star Fox : could be made into one badass game if they had it about 75% in vehicles and 25% out of (but since its on 360 or PS3 out of vehicle would be a FPS :] )

- F-Zero : Just thinking about F-Zero on a system like the 360 or PS3 should make you jizz

- DK : Ninty has already ruined it.......but if DK could make it to Microsoft (and back to Rare) then who knows what could happen.......just no Nuts and Bolts crap plz.

- Fire Embelm : Well Ninty actually does a really good job with this series.....so I'd prefer it stays with them.

The Riddler

Morons who didn't get it:
You pick who you would want to buy Nintendo's assets, then you make up a hypothetical situation in what they do with those assets.

FOR EXAMPLE:

Sony buys out Nintendo. Since Sony has such close ties with Square-Enix, a true Super Mario RPG sequel will be released.

I'm too tired to make up more.

Macawmoses

Still, I'd like to see someone like XSEED get their hands on Pikmin and Animal Crossing. It'd be amazing. Those would be sales I wish happened.

Zero

I'm all for DK getting back into the competent hands of Rare.

And yes I agree with Echo completely about F-Zero.

As far as Metroid goes, Nintendo hasn't even been developing Metroid themselves for quite a while now, so its safe to say that the series isn't even applicable to this conversation.

Intelligent Systems should really get on the ball and make a real PM game dangit.

Keep in mind that Capcom developed Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons; those two are the best handheld Zeldas ever released, and OoA is the only contender with ALTTP for the best 2D Zelda.

And considering I enjoyed Okami more than I did Twilight Princess on the Wii, well...
