Assistance on Bryyo (Spoilers)

I'm fighting the Ice Boss on Bryyo, and I do pretty well until the end.  He starts swinging a giant ice shard above his head and then throws it down to the ground.  It does massive damage and makes me lose the fight.  How do I stop this attack from hurting me?

Shooting it hasn't worked for me, and it seems that no matter how close it is to me, I always get hurt.  I'll just keep trying unless someone else knows how.  Maybe I'll get lucky.

My friend says you have to sidestep a lot so you can get away. But When he gets a little past half health go into Hyper mode and he will die a lot easier.

He never did that for me...
I would enter Hypermode so that if it hit you, you would take no damage. After that, blast away, take the armor, and kill!

Distance yourself from it, it has horrible range. Also, try dodging while locked on to rundus, they way, he has a harder time hitting you

Ok guys, I found out how to dodge the attack.  What I did was I ran past the ice pedestal that he was standing on while it was coming toward me, and I never got hurt.

@Tahrann: I tried to distance myself, but it always seemed to hit me.  But I've got it now, so thanks everybody.  ;)
