I'm sad now, I just had to have my little cat Mittins put down, it would have cost up close to $2000 just to maybe give her a few more months, good bye Mittins you were one strange cat

anyone else ever have to put a pet to sleep?

No but my cat did die in the house at the beginning of May because she was old I guess.

My dog because he bit my Aunt and the mailman. :(

I would never, especially a cat, since I regard them as equals to me.  It's against my morals and my view of life.  I think life should be extended as long as possible, no matter what, because feeling pain is better than not being able to feel anything ever again.

That said, my mom had a cat from before I was born until I was about 4 or 5, and she had to be put "to sleep."  Her name was also Mittens, coincidentally.

Why is that such a common cat name?

Not yet, thank god. My cat has another 7 or 8 years before a natural death.

yeah we had to put my cat down because she was like 25 years old (I'm not exaggerating, my mom had her since before she was married). She was so old that just about everything was failing in her, so it was the humane thing to do.

Yesterday, sort of. I was on the verge of crying. Why? I got into an argument with a couple other people from #nsider and it got me really upset. I didn't really cry much though

No... Hopefully never.
Pets are awesome and awful to have, 'cause they don't live very long compared to us, then 99.8% of those who lose a pet feel awful...

I have lost a couple pets though, one we had to give back because she was too jumpy (I was real little), another died because the darn vet treated her for RAT POISON, but she had internal bleeding or something, she would've survived if they treated her early enough. AND WE STILL HAD TO PAY FOR ALL OF THE DAMN RAT POISON TREATMENT!..

No, a random car on the highway put my dog down.

My dog ran off and died around the middle of May. He was sixteen, he was born only a couple months after I was. ;-; I was just glad he didn't pass away in the bitter winter we had.

Super

My first hamster, Fuzzles, died of old age. He was BA.

His legacy continues, fortunately.

God, I'd beat the poop out of the vet over that.

I haven't, yet, thankfully.

We had to give away a dog because she had mental issues.  The darn thing seemed to purposely use the bathroom in the house, particularly on the couch.  Hell, the thing wouldn't stop whining at night just to keep us awake (even 2 months after getting here, which is far too long to get used to anything).  That dog even annoyed sadie enough that she'd pin the other dog to the floor (sadie is usually hermless).

We'd let the poophead out, wouldn't go, then she goes in the house :|

So, sadie (the first dog) is still here, and her playmate (or what was suppossed to be) is gone.  We gave her away.  If we hadn't, my dad probably would have killed it.

Yes. My old dog had a tumor. The vet said he probably wouldn't make it through surgery, so we had to put him down. This was while I was at school. When I got home, my dog wasn't there, and my mom wouldn't tell me what happened to him until a few hours after I got home. ;__;

My dog had a liter of pups, we gave them all away to good homes. One of them, Gordo, was going to stay with us but my mom thought it was best to give him away too.

Gordo was a pitbull, rot, and a German Shepard mix so you know he was going to be tough to raise as a pup.

The person who we gave Gordo to had a kitten, and he killed it. They put him to sleep instead of asking us if we wanted him back.

They put to him to sleep and told us afterward.
