Man, the state of Arkansas is about to rake in a lot of money when school starts.  During the summer there were some laws passed regarding teens and driving.  Most of them make sense, but there's one I just don't get.  In Arkansas, teen drivers are now only allowed to have one passenger under the age of 18.  During lunch, a lot of people carpool, and somehow, I don't think this law is going to stop that.  The law seems pointless to me; I can understand laws preventing teens from texting while driving, but a law regulating how many people they can carry seems superfluous.  Really, what's the point of being able to drive a car if you can only carry one other person?  It's not like we have public transportation around here.

The rationale behind the law is that if there are other teenagers or kids in the car, you're more likely to be socializing with them than paying attention to what's going on in front of your windshield. A similar law's been on the books in IL for awhile.

Personally, I think it makes sense.

Here you can't carry more than one person who isn't an intimate family member for six months. Once you have had your license for six months you can carry up to three. Although I've never seen someone get busted for it.
