So anyway, earlier I was watching this show called "Say Yes To The Dress", which is like..this show where brides go and look for their perfect wedding dress. It's totally a chick show, but whatever. So anyways this lesbian couple was on the show looking for dresses and my mom was like "Um what? A lesbian couple? What's with that?", and I said "So what? :|" and she was like "What? You think it's okay for people to be gay?" and I said "yeah, it's fine".

Oh, as a side note, my family is Muslim. I was too up until like...several months ago when I decided that religion is bullpoop and i'm Agnostic now. However, my mom doesn't know this because she would literally murder me if she found out. :o

So anyway, my mom started whining at me about how Muslims aren't supposed to accept gays or some bullpoop like that, and then she started going crazy when I said I have gay friends, and she was like "Muslims aren't allowed to have gay friends either. :|"

She was being really stupid about it, but yeah, that's pretty much what happened. She's crazy olol. Are your parents crazy about gays as well or do they not really care either way?

My parents don't give poop about people being gay. My mom voted yes on prop. 6 and although dad my doesn't really give a poop, he is slightly homophobic as in he is crept out around those who are. Funny poop, he always whispers something to me or my mom about how crept out he is.

seeing as how my parents are of different race, i'm fairly sure they don't care about interracial marriage.  Gay marriage, I don't know, but I'm sure they wouldn't actually care that much, so long as it remains "not in my backyard".  But that's not a problem, because there hasn't been a gay couple in my extended family.... ever.

I don't think she actually thinks her parents would murder her. It is just like someone saying "Oh my God, my mom's going to murder me if she found out I broke that vase!" You know she won't, you are just exaggerating on the fact that she would be extremely mad off.

Also, both of my parents are against gay marriage. I think it is fine. What I hate more than anything is not letting people do something for the intercourse ing pooptiest reasons. My dad thinks that marriage should be "when a man and a woman have children". Not only does he not agree with gays because they can't have children, but if a man or a woman are sterile and therefore can not have kids, he doesn't think their marriage exists. You are only married if have, and legitimately can, have children. To me this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard in the world (actually no, but it annoys me), but I can't change what he believes, so I just have to deal with it. He's also homophobic.

The funny thing is, although they both disagree with gay marriages, they hosted a gay marriage for their lesbian friends. They went to the wedding and then hosted the reception at our house. I asked my mom about it because I was interested in how the two conflicting ideas of "ew, gays" and "yay my friends are getting married!" clashed. She said you have to suck it up for your friends' sake even if it may not be something you are totally in love with.
