I categorize goldeneye  as another FPS like the rest, which is mundane and the same.
...no.
YEAH

Dog Food

I have it for my N64, so I don't need to buy a remake. Unless it was that much better, but classics usually win over remakes.
I get obsessively manic over things. It's a problem.

theyre releasing it for the xbox arcade with updated graphics. it looks like poop, even in comparison, but at least that lag that was always present will be gone

also i cant imagine goldeneye being the same anymore. when was the last time you played it? its a good way to kill your childhood memories of it by revisiting it - simply not that amazing
I played it a few time when it was popular way back when, not exactly sure how long ago it was.

I hate to say it but this applies to about almost every N64 game, especially If you're playing with the N64 controller. I was playing Kirby 64, SM64, and a few other games. My reaction was simply an "Eh; This isn't that great" and there's only such few exceptions I can let to slide this.

Am I the only one that thinks even a direct re-launch with updated graphics would still be underpar?
Or you know, just add more content along with updated graphics and let people use the Gamecube Controller.
[21:11] <mackormoses> let's take a look at today's stats

3 of my friends smoke weed. Why? Well I asked one time, and this is what they said: "Because I can blow out smoke and it makes me feel like a intercourse ing dragon"

i played sm64 recently and was still amazed by it. as far as im aware, that poop is timeless. banjo kazooie as well. its just good ol fashioned fun.
goldeneye just doesnt do that for me. everything about it pales in comparison to perfect dark, and the only reason it was great was because of the memories of when you were little.

Oh yeah, there's no denying that SM64 is still a pretty neat 3D Platformer, but when replaying the N64 games, I just felt so much of the console was clouded over nostalgia I had when I was younger, thus making me not really think most games on it are "Godlike" Or anything. This also applies to Goldeneye. Sadly however, Perfect Dark was one of the few games I never got my hands on when getting my collection for cheap. So glad I got one of the last two copies of Conker's Bad Fur Day.

As for the game itself: May or may not get. Depends on how it turns out.

I think I played a lot of games compared to most of you guys here, but Yes... out of the many games I rented/beaten/bought etc...
I do have a LOT of game memories that take me back to the times of my younger days.

Mystical Ninja 2 Featuring Goemon.
Mischief Makers
Quest 64

Perfect Dark was technically a superior game in most ways but Goldeneye still has the more realistic setting and weapons. Forgetting about Perfect Dark (which has a similar game design) Goldeneye was an awesome game when it came out because of the excellent mission structure, graphics were quite good for the time (though really blocky characters especially today), great weapons, top notch 4 player death match, interesting unlockable cheats often that demanded quick level speed runs to achieve. It was the Halo of that generation and much like Halo it wasn't the most original game but it was quite solid overall. It was also one of the first games I can remember that you could zoom your sniper rifle, and shoot any limbs with the player reacting accordingly.

Most of the features that made Goldeneye so great are not that interesting today so probably part of why I still like it is just nostalgia. It's still a good game and has aged better than some others. I never enjoyed Perfect Dark as much but it did improve upon the formula in most ways including much enhanced graphics, voice tracks, and a much worse framerate.

I should plug in my N64 and play them both right now. I just might do that.

After reading this thread, I wanted to do the same...but realized I didn't have Perfect Dark, which made me sad.
Luckily, I can get it for probably $10. I may do that soon.

Both Goldeneye and Perfect Dark had amazing multiplayers.
