Sorting out the hardcore and overrated.

I think I made a similar thread like this, but I no longer think so.

Anyway, the gist of this is to ask you what games you consider hardcore and what other games you consider overrated. Please have in mind that while some do look overrated, they could be hardcore as well.

So then, what games do you consider hardcore or overrated at this point?

Ocarina of Time is really overrated. Most Grand Theft Auto games and any Halo are too. Little Big Planet wasn't all that great either.

I think I should point out that overrated is never a bad thing, in fact something that's overrated can still be amazingly good.

Let's see... Okay, people, what do you think of MW2 at this point? Overrated or hardcore?

(Out of topic, but Nayrman's been here for roughly ten minutes, meaning he's preparing a long post of his as always.)

Over-rated, like most FPS games.

Incidentally, OoT may be over-rated, but that's because it really is an awesome game. And it was an awesome game before it was over-rated. I hope they remake it.

...Besides, if you think OoT is over-rated, I could just point you to Sephiroth. The single most over-rated villain ever designed, and pretty much the only reason I have to play FFVII. Since, you know, he keeps killing my favourite character.

Yeah, FF7 is overrated too, but I don't care about that because I don't care about lame stuff. Ocarina is good, but not Wind Waker good or anything like that.

MW2 isn't overrated, it's easily one of the best games ever created. You get to shoot a lot of Russians and nuke stuff, and Captain Price has cool facial hair. Hardcore.

Final Fantasy 6 is hardcore, and maybe just a tad overrated.

Nah, I think it is hardcore. People think it's overrated because you see Kefka being mentioned so much in Dissidia, I think.

Hardcore: Geometry Wars: Galaxies.
Overrated: Halo, SSBB, etc.

Hardcore: Games that the "average teenager" gets bored in, the "soccer mom" doesn't want her kids playing, and "average joe" thinks is stupid because it's not a game that everyone can play.

Glad to see another who agrees with me on the Wind Waker kicking ass point. I'm not sure what I could call overrated. I don't really play a lot of current games, anyway, so I wouldn't be able to measure the validity of the popularity of MW2, RDR, etc.

As for hardcore games, I'm currently playing Ikaruga for Dreamcast and can't even beat it on easy mode, so I guess that counts.

MW2? Overrated, but it is still my game of choose. The design on it sucked. I've seen hacks I never thought was possible. FAMAS? Yeah, how about a full auto one? Flying? Well that would explain the guy outside of Afghan. Still, customization is great.

Really, its hard to say what is 'Hardcore' and what isn't. I actually don't believe FFVII is over hyped. It just seems that way because it's fans are actual fans who fight for the game. So many more haters now-a-days. I do the same for Fire Emblem and Tales games.

BTW, FFVI is pretty hardcore, if only because of how insane Kefka is.
