Well, they never got killed and were never useful, so it could be understandable that they were put there to stay out of trouble or something. They can also scan different cars to become different cars. They're still Red & Green, so I assume that they are trying to signal that these are them now. Does Red & Green automatically mean it's them? No, but Red & Green together, pretty much yes. If they weren't supposed to be the same guys, they would probably use new colors, as there are many they could have used, rather than the same exact 2.
If some of that is kinda "wut," blame my sleepiness.

If they ever make a 4th, I think they should use their scanning more often for a few bots, rather than "SCAN CAR, SAME4EVAR!!"

You guys are not accepted in this world for a reason. Stop being so judgmental and take that stick out your ass. Its a movie about robots who turn into cars with action scenes. Not a master piece that will need to be viewed in museums all over the world. I swear it either has to be 100% good to you guys or its garbage.
