I think it's more into the band's progress, and then finally they have to defeat the devil.

Speaking of GH3 and Tenacious D, one of the songs in GH3 will be "The Metal" which was from that movie.

Anyways, my guesses are that Lou has possesed Morello and Slash and you must defeat him to free them. But that just seems stupid. >_>

Or one of your band mates has had his soul stolen by Lou due to solo record deals and such. Also stupid.

Anyway, I think that after you play Cult of Personality something happens on-stage and your band is killed and sent to Hell. There, you have to beat Lou in a rock-off to free yourselves and be sent back to Earth.

Also, Hell might bring up too many religious arguements.

Assuming you are sent to Hell, I suggest death by special effects, for example, the flare things malfunction and explode.
