Question about uploading videos on Youtube

I was about to upload one of my Brawl matches and I found out that it's size is 123 MB when the maximum for Youtube videos can only be 100 MB. How can I fix this?

Some compressions can lower the size without reducing quality.

Your camera probably would not have a very good compression on its videos. Doing what I said will compress it to reduce file size.

Your camera probably would not have a very good compression on its videos. Doing what I said will compress it to reduce file size.

Doing what blukai said would probably work better, just ignore what I said.

Ah, okay. So I downloaded Virtualdub1.7.6. and on the site it says something about unzipping it, although I don't see anywhere to do that.
And what do you mean "Xvid"?

Ah, okay. So I downloaded Virtualdub1.7.6. and on the site it says something about unzipping it, although I don't see anywhere to do that.

Once you install the program, you're supposed to open Video->Compression from its menu bar. The program lists many different names, some of which are "DivX", "ffdshow", "Xvid", "Cinepack", et cetera. Just click on "Xvid" and choose "ok"

To get the program, just download the latest version. The file is a .ZIP, so right-click it after download and choose "Extract All..."

Okay, here it is as specific as I can make it:

1. Right click on this link and choose "save link as..."
2. Direct the save dialog to your desktop and click "ok"
3. Wait for the download to finish
4. Look at your desktop
5. Right click on the file you download and choose "Extract all..."
6. Keep clicking "next" until it's done
7. Open the folder that was just created on the desktop
8. Double click on the file "VirtualDub.exe" (the .exe may or may not be shown)
9. Just click next, I agree, finish, and whatever
10. Open the program
11. Go to file->Open video file...
12. Find and choose your video
13. Go to video->compression
14. Scroll down and click on "Xvid" and then "ok"
15. Go to file->Save as AVI...
16. You'll see it processing. It should show you the estimated file size.
17. If estimated file size is below the YouTube limit, just wait until it's done.
17b. If estimated file size is above, cancel and go back to video->compression and just pick anything else or reduce the quality slider

Okay, I'm at the part where I'm selecting a video compression but I don't see "Xvid" anywhere. I see DivX and Indeo and stuff, but I don't see that or "ffdshow". (One of your other examples.)

Oh, the codec might not be installed on your computer. Just choose something else and hope that it will make the video small enough.
Just as a warning, I think that DivX adds a watermark to videos, so don't choose that one.

Oh, and when I try and open my video it has an error saying:

"MPEG: Import Filter: Invalid Pack Position 3: marker bit not set; possibly MPEG-2 stream."

Oh, and sorry. I forgot to say for the error for opening video in the Virtual Dub program, that was from a couple steps back.

When all else fails ask Google.
I searched the exact error you gave me. Apparently, your video camera uses MPEG-2 and VirtualDub doesn't support that by default.
The easiest fix I found was to redownload a different version of VirtualDub at this web page (link)
Just save this and extract the same way as the other version. Sorry for the inconvenience x.x

I just realized that you don't need to install, which you've probably noticed already. You can just double click the file in the folder and the program opens.
