They're more detailed. The top ones are actually blurry from having to be scaled up.

The big difference is that there is no way to compare them for HD models. The top roster is all made up of exclusive character art, while the bottom roster is actually taken off from slightly modified in-game stances. I have quite an eye for this, and it appears some stages alter how each one of them looks like.

Just lost a Smash tournament. Not awful, though; learned some things, saw a really good player destroy the rest of the competition, had some fun, and the whole thing was for charity anyway.

Now I need to practice for the next one; it's gonna be doubles, with myself using Pit and my friend using Ike.

Actually, there wasn't a single Meta Knight user there (though there were a ton of Ikes for some reason). The guy seemed to mainly like R.O.B., but he actually switched between a bunch of different characters (the final round was won with Mario); he was just plain better than everyone else.
