1. Was it really?  I find a "by the way..." post in a chat thread that is usually nonsense a little less substantial than an official announcement.  If this was truly the intention of Silver and Mack, to move on from this place and start over, I'll wait to hear it from them.
Seeing as I was the first to respond to your post, I can definitely tell you have the respect a leader needs to, well, lead.
2.  Exactly.  Are you willing to work with annoying people, or will you bully them into disinterest in your community?
3. You skipped a line.
1. Mack had nothing to do with this. I was urging Silver to do cool poop to get this place undusty, and I intended to help. He backed off from the ideas, though.
2. Yeah, I'm used to annoying people. And what I had said before was hardly bullying (it wasn't).
3. Nah, I only numbered the parts that I chose to respond to.

.

Mack? Bahaha. As for Silver, he doesn't want to move on because he has sentimental attachment to the forum. As well as being pressured to shut this forum down and archive it.

1.  You'd stab him in the back like that?  Smooth.  He has put a lot of work into this place after all.
2. Oh, don't worry about me.  I'll be just fine.  But not as many people are emotionally secure as I am.
If people feel like the administrator is only welcoming to a certain type of user, whether or not that is completely true or not, a lot of people will feel excluded.
3. Then don't complain when you can't see the full picture, especially when you refuse to look at the parts you don't like.

1. Stab who in the back? Mack? He doesn't participate in IRC , which is where the discussions took place. I don't think he knew about anything until Silver told him.
2. Alrighty then.
3. I read everything you said, but I only responded to the parts that I felt I needed to respond to.  When did I complain?

I don't get why you're on the offensive like this and making assumptions based on nothing. I don't get why you're accusing me of being elitist. I'm pretty baffled, honestly. This whole Flatline project was for the benefit of NSFCD, but Silver (and later Mack) decided not to go with it.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I can't seem to find my underwear.

1. I guess it's just me, but an internet chatroom hardly seems like the place to make important decisions.  Emails are definitely more secure.
Like I said, Mack has worked hard for this place and not trying to include him as much as possible in this decision would be completely unfair.

2.  Just my opinion.  Give it a thought, will you?

3. You seemed confused at my concluding statement a few posts back, I assumed it was because you looked at the last line by itself by the way you had divided my post, but my last sentence wouldn't have made sense unless it was included with the previous one, which you felt like you didn't need to respond to.
It was an implied thing.

Maybe your intentions were good, but you're delivery and presentation were miserable. It felt like you were ditching this place and inviting anyone to join you.
This was not meant to be a personal attack against you, but rather a message to anyone who cared to read (nobody, I imagine).  I've said before, years ago, that the arrogance, or assumed arrogance, of the users here would end NSFCD.
Of course, nobody ever listened to me before.  It took red centered text for me to be noticed.
The inability to welcome new members into the core of activity here was a big part of NSFCD's downfall.  People didn't feel like part of the group, and left.

As for why I went to all the effort, I felt like something needed to be said and said aggressively.  Hopefully I got my point across.

And beer
Don't forget the beer

Oh god yes, can't forget the beer. Beer for everyone, it's on me.

I'm I the only one who doesn't understand what's going on here? If NSFCD is dying, what exactly would keep Flatline, founded by a small portion of NSFCD's already small population, alive? What could you put there to bring in new members that you couldn't put here?

That's exactly what I said to Super, Vaatix, and Drybones. They feel that if they implement more features and have an overall nice forum appeal it'd attract more members. It's plausible, but it'll also take contribution from the members spreading the word around about Flatline. If more people did the same with this forum before it got to this point, it probably would still be fairly active.

Zero

The problem with "spreading the word" is that most forums do not take kindly to advertising another forum on their forum, even if its in a signature.

It isn't impossible, but its pretty intercourse ing annoying.

zephilicious

Big forums get big because they have something worth discussing to draw new members

community forums have no such draw and can only lose members over time. shiny is not a draw.

Flatline is basically just a testing ground for different kinds of stuff at the moment.
