Perhaps that's why I like Brothers in Arms so much...

It isn't the same 'olo nazis let's go killz themz!' game that Call of Duty and Medal of Honor are. It makes you think.

You actually have to think. I had an enaging feud with a single German infantryman today, actually. When I flanked left while my squad was busy suppressing the hell out of a German fire team, I came upon it's assualt team. I quickly dispatched all but one with my BAR, who quickly fell back into a ditch. I had no angle of fire, and my squad wasn't able to fire upon him either. So, I fired off some rounds and quickly ran to a new position behind a fallen tree. He noticed what I was doing, and moved to a differnt downed tree adjacent to mine. I eventually got tired of our game, and waited for him to pop his head up.

Another thing is that it instills a feeling of both dependance and responsibility. You are not the one man army, and have to rely on your squad to to assist you in completing objectives. This almost makes you actually care about their wellbeing. If you pay attention to the story, then you DO care. They all have defined personalities, and two specific characters even crack jokes mid-firefight.

Oh well. Can't wait until Hell's Highway.

That reminds me...... is the History Channel showing Band of Brothers at the moment?

Dunno.
Intresting that you brought that up, though. BiA and BoB are alike in several ways, both following 101st PIR.

I'll look into the first one when I get my new PC (if I'm not busy playing Crysis and GoW).

I've never played one. You would say that  BiA's single player is superior to that of CoD, though?

You can play either Road to Hill 30 or Earned in Blood first. EIB takes place during RtH30, but it also expands the story from Sgt. Hartsock's view.
Personally, I like EiB more. Hartsock is a more lovable character, and the gameplay is more fluid and challenging with better AI.
Sgt. Baker (Play him in RtH30, see him in EiB) reminds me of Winters, in that while he is indeed quite emotional and cares deeply in his men, he keeps it all bottled up inside to aid them and project a view of a role model. It's commented on EiB, as "He's not the Baker anybody remembers anymore.". It's elaborated in Hell's Highway, when the man he blames himself the most for the death of, makes him go almost insane as he remembers him

I would say so. It has a learning curve, however, and you'll have to forget what CoD has taught you.

Brothers in Arms was a very well built WW2 shooter. It's been well recieved by reviewers, and with it's quality play, could easily become the dominating force in the WW2 shooter genre. That sad, when will the war end?

"It just never ends."
"What?"
"Nothing, just thinking out loud."

It's rare when something Allen said can be used to such an effect.

I really have no problem with WWII shooters. The main problem is that MoH and Call of Duty have flooded the market, so no one wants anything to do with it anymore.

Have you played the DS Brothers in Arms?

Personally, no.
It just seems to go in the opposite of the direction the other two games in the main series: Authenticity, while telling a story.
I'll be sure to try it out, however.

It's pretty fun but it's really light on story.....

Hah, that should be easy enough, as I would not say CoD really teaches you anything not already known to anyone who has ever played a shooter.

I was somewhat impressed with what was shown of Hell's Highway at E3, though. It's release is still  to be announced, hm? Well, I will try to remember to at least rent it once it is out.

Early March, I believe.
Really, if you have an Xbox or a PC that isn't complete trash, you could try the original two, Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood. The PS2 versions aren't worth it, by the way.
