They better not try that "unwrap and rewrap a game but still sell it as new" thing. :| Because I 've had that done to me before and I know they did it because the same games at Best Buy have tight wrapping. I'm just saying this because if it's open, it's not new. :-\ Who had this happen to them before?

That's typically not how pre-order works. The five bucks is to make it worth it for the vendor to hold onto the game for you instead of simply selling it off to any random person.

You could have simply done a pre-order through another vendor. A collectible coin doesn't seem like it's worth it in the long run, especially if you've had problems with the company before. I could understand if it was something entertaining like a collectible disc full of old Mario games, and only GameStop was offering it, but a coin sure doesn't seem like it's worth it to me.
