I was browsing the Wikipedia article about Lucky Star... ::)

"Kadokawa Pictures USA and Bandai Entertainment announced that they have licensed the Lucky ☆ Star anime with a teaser trailer at the end of the volume four DVD of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya."

Does this mean that Lucky Star will be dubbed and released in America? I hope not. >.<

No, they license it just for the hell of it, they don't plan on making any money what's soever. ^_____^

Lucky Star is now dead....

I swear if they butcher the opener at the intensity of the old One Piece opener.... :robotsad:

If a dubbing company gets hold of LS, there is no way it will retain its integrity as an awesome anime.  There are just too many references and jokes that the general American public would not get.  I wouldn't be surprised if they made the episodes half length because of all the stuff they'd have to cut out.

And forget the bath scene olol, Timotei...Timotei...Timotei...

I laughed.

Now everyone can see the mediocrity. :3

actually, if this happens, LS will become an insider's classic.  It will be all liek

"hey did you watch LS last night?  it sucked"
"sub or dub?"
"dub, why"
"you suck olol, watch the sub"

*goes and watches the sub*

"hey the sub rocked"
"i no rite"

That's why it would most likely be rated TV-14. ;)

Of all the anime series out there that haven't made a US debut, I couldn't care less about Lucky Star.  My 2 cents.

Except the show sucked to begin with. :3

I'm starting to think Evangelion turned me off from watching anime for fear of not finding a better one. :x

I'm just saying that seinen takes a backseat to shonen all the time when it comes to dubs.  Shonen is filled with action, so most things can be kept, but seinen has more dialogue and more dialogue means more American confusion.

Although Azumanga Daioh! somehow worked...*shrugs*

I never watched it myself.  I'm up to ep. 12 of the sub.

I'm just saying that it is possible that a Japanese culture-oriented anime could be successful in the US as a dub.  I'm not saying that I like dubs of seinen.  I actually hate dubbing.  I think US networks should either run subs or nothing at all.  But then again, I'm a bit on the radical side :P
