So we all know that in the Lucas: Special Moves update Sakurai used the phrase, "up until now".

"There's a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now, and Lucas is very similar."

Now there has been controversy (maybe not as much here but more so in NSider 2) about the fate of Ness.

Now in this update Sakurai used the same phrase again but this time was referring to the Handicap which is STILL in the game.

"So until now, I've always made sure to include handicaps in each game in the series."

What do you think this means? Do you believe Ness still has a chance? Is he gone? Does "up until now" mean nothing at all? You discuss.

If it means Ness having a chance to return I'd say you might be on to something.

Makes enough sense, the point is, you shouldn't think something is real unless it is revealed on the site, and even if the site says something, it might not be true :P

I'm thinkin'... The person that translates has to know how confusing that little phrase is, so maybe it isn't translated by humans.  There might be a program that translates using the closest fitting phrases instead of at least trying to make sense of things.  Sounds a bit far-fetched, but I bet it is possible to do that, and that might be what they're doing.

I felt it necessary to do this; I decided to find the literal translation with Google, and here's what I got on Lucas' page. (click)

It's obviously not the same, nor is this a good argument; machine translators give a LITERAL translation, as in one word at a time.
