and I agree.  eventually, every superpower falls (Egypt did fall, but, yeah.  that's a completely different issue.)

I know some kids that have been here for 6 years.  they have made no attempt to learn english, and resultingly haven't.  we have a great ESL program here, and many immigrants use it to learn English, but there are alot (again, mainly kids) that are just too slack to do it.  then they complain about not fitting in, when it's their fault for not putting in the effort to do so.
Maybe it's different there, but here the kids do take the initiative to learn English, and many of us try to learn Spanish. (I live in Texas, BTW) Well, nothing can be done, I just wish people would stop treating them as... "inferior beings", so to speak. That's why Mithos is my avatar. XD

Concerning Egypt, my bad. Egypt is the oldest existing civilization, as the other two primal civilizations (Mesoamerica & Mesopotamia) have fallen.

The thing is, they're not treated as inferiors, they're just not treated as anything.  they're ignored, because they only speak to other german immigrants, because they're the only ones that speak the same language as themselves.  It's just that our schools are already overflowing, and we can't expand (we get no money from the opposing provincial government), so we cannot expand our schools, and though the parents contribute to the populace, the influx of immigrant children makes it very tough on the schools.

Also,

Lol, Atlantis. >_>

Like you said earlier, the situations between our areas are different. Where I live, some places refuse serivice to all Hispanics unless they prove they are legal, and it's not right. Heck, anything remotely homosexual was considered criminal in Texas until 2003, and the same stance is being taken with immigrants. Wiki the Farmer's Branch protests and you'll know what I mean.

Atlantis, wut?

*Are you a believer?* >>

I believe in the possibility of there having been an Atlantis, and that it was based around Antarctica (as there are no sunken continents anywhere).

^_^ So do I. The Artic was at some point tropical, so its not unreasonable to assume the same went for Antartica. Where there is oil, there was life.

that's why you should apply for immigration, not just jump in while someone's looking the other way.

it's the same thing as going into someone's house.  you don't just barge in, you ask them if you can visit first.

people who ask for immigration usually get denied, you have little to no chance when you
apply.

that's why you should keep trying, i suppose.

but I just don't like the idea of people flooding into somewhere that isn't theirs, you know.  it's a lose-lose situation for everyone.  the illegal immigrants break the law by entering the country.  then people who worked to get where they are are replaced by a larger number of illegal immigrants.  illegal immigrants are hired in large amounts to do slaughterhouse jobs, where injuries are widespread.  they get sick, can't get help from the government (or else they'll be deported), and end up dead or disabled.

I just hate the idea of it, is all.  the concept would be good if there was the space for immigrants, but frankly, there isn't.

thats basically why most of us come here for.

It's the Mexican Government's fault for tacitly encouraging this.  Notice that they don't give a poop about their workforce escaping en masse from their country.  Because they actually benefit from it.  So they don't give a poop about really improving their own land.

Why would they?  Having more people in their country means more people to support, more resources they need to spend on infrastructure.  Why do all that if they can just do the bare minimum and just let the country go to the poopters, have all their able-bodied people migrate to the US, and get free untaxed money pumped back into the country to support the remaining population?

Yeah exactly.  People tend to spin this all about something about the cause of the poor, but it's not really about that at all.

The US government has its share to blame on all this because they let this happen without retribution, and the American people and the media also are to blame because they play on the politicians' fears.

The people here care so much about about the welfare of migrants (which is a good thing, don't get me wrong), who are almost worthless in the countries that they're from, that they don't even see the invisible hand and the long term damages it's causing.  The Mexican government knows that and is taking advantage of us and will continue to do so as long as we are prey to kindness.
