Is downloading music with uTorrent illegal?

Legality is based upon the song.

If you were to torrent Chocolate Rain, a song based upon Creative Commons, where no copyright is present, I assume it's legal.

For a song that is legally sold in stores and copyrighted, it's illegal.

uTorrent leaks information to your ISP, so they can terminate service if you're using a lot of bandwidth.

Bitcomet is the way to go.

For the most part, yes. However some CC licenses prohibit some forms of sharing, IIRC.
