Title: US vs. Canada.
Post by: Super on July 28, 2008, 09:11:24 PM
What is better? Who would win a war? You decide. It should be pretty obvious, unless you are a dumbass.

Well, The US would win, but Canada would cut off oil exports to US and the US would lose it's biggest energy provider.

But yeah, US would win.

US would actually lose. They are the most hated nation in the world, and with that, Canada would have so many allies it isn't funny. From Britain, to Afghanistan, we'd bomb your asses to hell. Face it, the Japanese are vengeful.

Afghanistan doesn't hate the US.  The people love us(you know, we kind of like saved them and all), it's just the terrorists that hate us.  +They really don't have the resources to fight.  Britain would remain neutral, most likely.  Israel, which has the largest per capita military in the world, loves us.  Russia would ally with us purely because they want to spread north and over(like the way they planted a flag in the arctic).  But really, it would all be about circumstances.   Most countries would ally with whoever was in the right, and we don't really know that from this situation, which is why people were basing it as without allies, I think.

We accomplished everything we intended to, you accomplished nothing.  You guys stopped pirating our ships and gave us the land we were supposed to have but you had kept anyways.  You burned down the white house? We burned down the parliament, twice.

Well, we have a stockpile of nuclear arms. A poorly maintained and aging one.

Yes, the people that control those missiles would be stupid enough to explode a nuclear bomb over Canada if the US was losing that badly.

No.

Okay, I'll explain it to you.  At the end of the revolutionary war, we signed a treaty with britain, saying that we got a certain portion of the land they held (the 13 colonies and west of them, including the area south of the great lakes), and all British forts and settlements would leave them.  However, the British did not leave the area south of the great lakes, thus breaking their side of the treaty.  In addition to that, British privateers (federally funded pirates) were pillaging american merchant ships.  We, of course, wanted our land and wanted safety for our merchants.  A war formed.

At the end of the war, the British finally left the land they said they would, and stopped pirating our ships.  That is what we wanted, and we got it.  I don't think that when your enemies get everything they want from a war, it means you have won.

yeah, but at the same time, we could still not be "100% independent" and absolutely nothing would be different than it is now.  All that was was a signed piece of paper.  the big change happened at WWI when Canada was recognized as a nation.

Dude, how it would end up is purely circumstantial.  Who attacks first?  That determines who gets support.  Second of all, who has who for allies.  For one, Israel would side with us no matter what, because we supply them with most of their weaponry.  However, Canada does have a lot of harsh terrian up north that their northern soldiers would be VERY accustomed too (if I remember correctly) and might do numbers on our soldiers up north.  Quite frankly, I could type up far more on what could change the outcome.  It might take me a full sized post.  Or more.

War can be a very complex thing.  Particularly tactics.

without outside intervention, the chances are that the US would win.  it's not a certainty, but yes, they probably would.  due to superior tactics, numbers, and weaponry, the odds are for them, but they would lack the advantage of the knowledge of the terrain, and that's a major factor.

It's not as simple as that.  What about retaliation of other nuclear powers?  That would cause M.A.D. (Mutual Assurred Annihilation to those not in the know) and then we would all die due to either getting caught in the blast or by radiation.  Soon everything would die due to insane levels of radiation and potential nuclear winter, except the hardiest of lifeforms.

Also, war would ensue in the time between all the catastrophe and the last remaining people would inevitably strive for a postion of power that would only last for so long due to anarchy and radiation.

Therefore, that is the only thing that kept the cold war from going hot and held nuclear attacks at bay, preventing that since they knew the dangers of M.A.D. and trying attempt a nuclear attack.

Practically, all of the Americans are arrogant dumba**es who think that their country is the best and every other country sucks. Many people in this thread have shown that really.

If the US would start paying attention to other things, and I mean ACTUALLY paying attention to things, then US and Canada would get more resources from each other and easily develop stuff, more oil, etc.

Plus, why would we need to rage war? We're practically the same, only a good amount of things makes of different.

It would depend on the circumstances. Does this war start today? A few years?

I was there.  I could list quite a few other examples, but i tire of this.

yeah, the majority of americans are probably great people (haven't met all of them, so i can't say).  however, you can't deny that there are some "we're on top of the world, we're the best country ever, intercourse  everyone else" people.

wasn't denying that fact, but the fact that they're currently the world's only superpower means that they will likely have more than most other countries, if not all.  thats how the world works.  if you're the best at something, you gloat about it until someone beats you.

Here's how it would go.

First, the US would capture Terrance and Phillip.  Then, we would shoot them, and Satan would emerge from Hell with his minions, including Saddam Hussein.  Then someone would shoot lightning and someone would make a wish and everything would go back tonormal as if no one had attacked the other in the first place.

That was a great movie. :D
Seems like it's happening in this thread.
Frankly, I'm against war, so who ever started it I would be against That country.

It would seem that we are the most ignorant/boastful people on the planet, but please don't base That ""Fact"" on every single American.

There are people from both countries that have switched sides.
After all, same sex marriages are legal up there, AND I heard that Marijuana is Legal up there as well (NOT AS IF, I'd ever do anything with THAT), I'm just saying. Now you tell a crack head American that and they'll move up to Canada so fast.
>_>
Not to mention I'm sure Canada is a lot less strict when it comes to it's Laws compared to America.

America- they seem to screw it up but they try to go to other countries and make peace... they help struggling civilization in other countries try to get better. Remember the Tsunami incident that happen in another country
(I forgot where), Americans everywhere pitched in money to try to help that country, despite Americas current crises within it's own Country.
So yeah, we may be a "power house" but with power comes responsibility and atleast we are willing to help.

I'm very sure there are no plans to Control the world and bomb every country. It's almost like we have all this power just to make sure that we are able to Help other countries in time of need... especially if another country is at war with another.......which is whats going on right now Sadly.

So, who cares which country would win in a mindless war. We should be thinking about peaceful ways to make the world a better place instead of killing eachother, we are All equal no matter what the Status we may hold.

Anyway- there are more good people in both countries then idiots who are ignorant/closed minded and hateful.

same sex marriage is legal in some areas of Canada, but if a same-sex couple tried to get married where I live (the southern state area of Manitoba) they wouldn't be allowed to.  anywhere else in the country, probably.

the country is big enough that it has ethnic portions of land where the laws completely differ due to the feelings of the populace.
