I quite agree. The gas prices have been changing to a ridiculous ammount every month or so, and It doesn't seem like It'll be stopping soon.

I remember something about brazil working on an alternative method to replace gas. Hopefully SOME Method comes up to replace gas If gas prices can't get lowered.

Why can't we use Alaska again?
Liberals. Who are backed by environmentalists, who wouldn't let us drill if the fate of humanity was at stake.
Do you seriously think oil would save humanity from any form of crisis? -_-"
There's enough oil in ANWR, the gulf, Colorado, etc. for the USA to sustain itself for about ten years. So if we take some of that, and some from other countries, and ration it out for a while while we figure out a realistic alternative then yes, oil could save humanity from a crisis.

uhh, if all the oil were to disappear now, the world would be in chaos.

so yes.
Oil will not save us. Oil it hurting humanity deeply. I think we need to stop using oil all together with in the next 40 or 50 years and start doing it now. We need to consider the effects we have on our planet that will come back to bite us. We could have this problem solved by now if the oil and automobile company did not kill the eclectic car or if the oil company's did not kill  a water power car. Or maybe if GM worried about whats will happen 6 years down the line in stead of 6 month and did not stop producing electric cars or destroyed the one out there maybe we would have some better options right now.
Not going to happen. There are billions of cars on the road (possible exaggeration), and 99% of them run on gas. There's no way we'll ever be able to convert them all to electric, and think about airplanes and ships. Electric engines sure as hell won't work as their main propulsion systems, unless they make ultra-powerful energy cells in the future.
So what you are suggesting is that when every drop of oil is gone, distant transportation as we know it will cease to exist.
It's possible.
I don't deny the possibility either, to tell you the truth...  :-[
what's a sail boat lol
Widespread, long-distance travel in nothing but sailboats is unrealistic.

Buy a hybrid. Not Toyota though. I think every 5 years or 100,000 miles the battery has to be replaced at the cost of $6,000.

Well, apperently in Japan they're making a water powered car. No joke. Well, I heard and saw it on Youtube so, it could be. But anyways, I hope it's real.

But about the gas prices right now, they are murder. One of these days they're going to charge an arm and a leg, for a gallon.

An American all ready invented a water powered car. Take a look:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Rb_rDkwGnU

It was added in 2006 so I wonder why we don't see them out now. I bet the oil company's made him an offer we can't refuse. Any way I think we wast to munch water as it is. We need to use less of it. Also water vapor is also a green house gas. In fact to munch water vapor is worse than CO2 in the atmosphere.

I would believe some of this if you could properly spell vapor.

It's all about money these days. But see, if we use water as fuel, won't we have money to use on other things as well? Like not just for common people, but for the government too. Such as war supplies as we are spending enough for it right now, new technology, and pretty much anything we can improve on. But then again, there's probably a deeper story to this.

The price will only keep rising.

Humanity has used Gasoline powered cars for nearly a century now, and we're not done yet. Alternative fuel sources have been found, but they're not as effective. Electric Cars cost more than than most expensive cars nowadays, so it's basically not a choice to 9/10 of the Worlds population.
Humanity can't give up Gasoline for some obvious reasons:
-Everyone already uses Gasoline powered cars, so it'd be insanely hard to just stop all of a sudden.
-Oil companies know that the public will pay for it, so, why not make some extra cash while you're at it?
-Other fuel methods have not been successfully developed.
-Legs? What are these "Legs" you speak of?
-Car>Bike>Scooter
-Cars and Airplanes can carry up to twice their weight because of the engines.

Now, there has been successful vehicles tested to use less gas and emit less greenhouse gases, such as hybrids, and some cars that don't emit any type of exhaust at all, electric cars.

Humanity isn't ready for the change to non-gas powered vehicles...but that'll change not too soon. Before you know it, we'll have pumped the earth dry.

That's me. :D ^

there's no reason for a car company to make an electric car, because:

1. they'll lose their oil buddies, prices of cars will subsequently go up.
2. people won't have to buy cars nearly as often.
3. because of 2, mechanics will go out of business.
4. the obvious "A Gasoline-powered vehicle sounds better than an electric vehicle" argument.

Just saying, the oil companies more than likely hold the patent for Hydrogen-Powered cars.

Oh, god.  If they do, it'd take a Bill Gates fortune to buy it off their hands.
