Jas' father stops walking abruptly. "Did you even learn anything?"

Jas herself takes a few more steps before swiftly drawing one of her blades and charging at the man. He turns around and blocks with his own sword.

((Dun worry, just some of their... normal... sparring.))

Sweeney got annoyed by that comment and swung Venice around so he was facing him with his mind. "Weren't you taught manners, boy?" Sweeney growled, but then laughed. He walked closer to Venice. Great, I'm stuck with the annoying one. What was his name again? Vector? "Listen, Vector, if you play your cards right, you just may live."

Heronn watched Jas and her father fight, hidden from view. He noticed right away that Jas had the two gems around her neck, and he watched them hungrily.

Zarani approached Heronn from behind and tapped him on the shoulder. "Ahoy there." He said, drawing his gun.

"Two things," responded Venice. "One, yes, I learned manners, but never found much use for them. Two, why bother bargaining for my life? Everything and everyone has a time to die. Oh, and maybe a third thing as well. LET GO OF MY MIND YOU SICK FREAK!"

Heronn whirled around and chuckled when he noticed it was Zarani. "Not dead yet, I see. Must I make a second hole in your stomach?"

Sweeney smirked and leaned back against the wall. He let go of Venice's mind. "Your time to die is soon, let me warn you. If not now, then very, very soon. Your whole group will die. Every last one of you, once we've gotten the last two gems that you will willingly hand over," Sweeney said. He was merely talking for pleasure, relaxed against the wall.

Zarani thought about it for a moment. "No." He finally said. "I think we should just forget about all this for now. After all, I've thought about it and I'd rather be a Dead Man than one of these do-gooders who are about to die."

This guys a moron. And a cocky one at that, thought Venice. But I can't attack him without him controlling me. So... I probably shouldn't have thought that out loud. Wait. How do you think out loud? I'm confusing myself. Uh...

"You do know that I don't have any of the gems anyway, right?" said Venice. "Jas has all the gems. But I guess your leader wants us all dead to get us out of the way. Makes sense. Anyway, I don't care about your plans. Go ahead and kill us all."

Jas jumps away from her father before she can attack again upon hearing voices nearby. She recognizes Zarani's, but not the other. "This is my fight..."

Understanding what she means, Jas' father nods and puts a hand on her head. "You better be careful," he walks away, disappearing as his coat blows in the wind.

Jas looks in the direction she heard Zarani and Heronn. "Alright, come out!"

[THEBIRD]

Heronn gave a nasty smile. "Really? Well, as you know to be a Dead Man, you must take a test. Kill her," Heronn pointed at Jas, "and you'll be back on with us. Make sure to bring her dead body back to me, there are some things attached to her that we need."

"Not yet," Sweeney replied with a cold laugh. "I admire your courage and loyalty to your side of things. If I actually cared, thinking about what is about to happen to you all would have saddened me. Don't worry, your time to die will come soon. First, I want some fun." Sweeney stood straight and gave Venice a bow before taking out his sword. "You may have learned that it's polite decorum to bow before your opponent. Now bow."

Eh, screw it, I'm going back to the ship. Mira did just that.

Zarani turned towards Jas, then suddenly turned back towards Heronn. "I know you, and there's a good chance you won't keep your word... Shake on it, mate." He held out his hand to Heronn.

"Why don't you make me?" said Venice, even though he knew Sweeney could do that easily. He didn't bother drawing a weapon, preferring to annoy Sweeney even more.
