Sakurai said that the clones that  return will have new movesets.  Also Doctor Mario could become Mario's alternate costume.

Some characters have some pretty awesome alt costumes so far. Dark link for example.

I think Wario's overalls were the most drastic change. I don't expect a completely different person as an alt costume..
